I’ve had this song in my head for the last few days….mostly just the chorus cause I don’t know any of the other words. My daughter was only in preschool, but for whatever reason is super pumped for summer. Did I teach her this, or is it an innate reflex she picked up in the womb somehow? Either way, I can’t blame the girl. We’re going to visit her favoritest cousins at the end of this week 🙂 Summer is pretty rad, not gonna lie. No early mornings, rushing around trying to pack a lunch. It’s glorious.
Except when your kids still wake up at 6 anyways.
Darn those kiddos.
Anyways, this summer I’m trying to find more fun activities we can do at home {that won’t cost one million dollars} so we don’t die of boredom. I came up with this semi-healthy idea last week and my daughters eyes just about popped out of her head when she saw all the goodies.
The Apple Dippers Bar consists of 3 kinds of sweet dips and lots of toppings for kids and adult alike to go buck wild and enjoy a sweet treat while staying occupied for a good 30 minutes. Things get a little messy, but if you cover the table to parchment paper, it’s not so bad.
Feel free to make only one dip and have less of a variety of toppings. I had everything on hand to throw this together, so I’d recommend doing the same. See what you have and work from there.
Here’s how you make these:
For the caramel dip, unwrap 20 caramels and add in a splash of milk. Microwave in 30 second intervals until completely melted and set aside.
For the chocolate dip, measure out some milk chocolate chips into a bowl and add in a splash of milk. Microwave in 30 second intervals until completely melted and set aside.
….are you seeing a pattern here?
Milk {and cream cheese} are items we always have on hand. Just ALWAYS. My kids drink organic milk and I’m always baking or spreading something with cream cheese. Since it’s June Dairy Month, I thought it fitting to use them in each dip recipe 🙂
PS- dairy items are so easy to use and develop recipes with! There’s always inspiration and creative possibilities with those products! Probably why I can always be found in the dairy aisle. Lol!
PPS- dairy products also include my favorite *addicting* coconut almond milk! Mmmm…..
PPPS- I know you were really wondering about my favorite non-dairy-but-still-found-in-the-dairy-aisle-milk. You’re welcome.
For the peanut butter dip, stir peanut butter together with some softened cream cheese….then add in some marshmallow fluff.
So it turns into this smooth and fluffy mixture that tastes amazing with apples.
Now for the goodies!! Anything that is small, sweet and edible would be a good topping. My favorites were the coconut and salted peanuts!
The last thing to do is wash and slice your apples. Then lay everything out and start dipping!
You could try chocolate and graham crackers…
or peanut butter with coconut {one of my favorites!}
Or this beauty! Caramel with salted peanuts….swoon!!
Not only were these tasty treats, but the whole thing was relatively simple to throw together. My daughter loved this and so did I. Playing with your food is fun, yo. For more fun snack ideas to make with your kids this summer, be sure to check out Easy Home Meals/NFRA webpage.
Have a great day, friends!

Do you think this would keep for a party? I wanted to do an apple dipper bar for my daughters party. Or do you think I need a crock pot/ fondue pot?
I think a small crockpot would work great in keeping that caramel warm, but don’t go out and buy one if you don’t already have one. Microwaving a bowl of caramel a few times isn’t that big of a hassle!
Okay, thanks! Do you think the same for the chocolate? Or will it stay melted pretty easily? How is the consistency of the peanut butter dip? That sounds DELICIOUS, so definitely want to do that!

I LOVE caramel apples!! Did you do anything to the apples to prevent them from turning brown? Thanks!
You can always toss them in lemon juice. That does the trick 🙂
