IMG_0181Surprise surprise! I found another cute restaurant with yummy treats in Portland! This city always has a tasty new spot to try that I’ve never been before. When Amanda was in town a few weeks ago, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to try out Blue Star Donuts. We’ve both been to the ever popular, very touristy VooDoo Doughnuts several times before so we wanted to try some place new!

Are you ready for some donuts?!

IMG_0183We couldn’t decide between all the different and unique flavors, so we got one of each 🙂 IMG_0066Hello gorgeous! Aren’t they all so pretty? Yes, I think donuts are pretty….and photogenic! Ha!

IMG_0009The very first donut I tried was this maple bacon! I love the salty sweet combo, so this was my 3rd favorite of the day.

IMG_0023This lemon poppyseed donut was pretty tasty too! I’ve never had one of those before!IMG_0026 copyThe apple fritter was one of my daughters favorites. It tasted crunchy and buttery. IMG_0027This marionberry filled donut with peanut butter powder was crazy! Also, I suddenly have the urge to roll everything in peanut butter powder. That is some seriously cool stuff.IMG_0028Coconut and chocolate topped this donut! IMG_0033And, of course Brooke DIED when she saw this pink donut. Pretty sure she licked off the frosting! IMG_0034Hello pistachios! Love that avocado green color 🙂IMG_0041Brooke also was a fan of this dark purple donut. IMG_0043Here’s just a plain sugared donut. I actually prefer the plain ones, so this was on my “like” list.IMG_0051More chocolate!! Their chocolate glaze on several of their donuts tasted more dark than sweet, so they weren’t my favorites of the day. Don’t get me wrong, they were good, just not my favorite…{did you see how many donuts there were to choose from?}
IMG_0055Hello passionfruit donut…..I think. I hit my sugar coma wall half way through and lost all recollection. LOL!

IMG_0056Mmm….dulce du leche hazelnut donut!! IMG_0060This salted caramel donut was favorite #2. Again, that salty sweet combo gets me every time!!
IMG_0030And, what was my very favorite donut at Blue Star? None other than the old fashioned buttermilk donut! See? I told you I liked the plain ones! The texture and taste was perfect on these little guys. If I were to go back again and just pick one, this would be it!

If you’re in or around Portland and want a fun place to stop, be sure to check these guys out 🙂 And make sure you get in before noon-they sell out pretty quick!

    […] we left on the tour, Lauren hooked us up with some donuts from Blue Star Donuts. They’re a popular donut shop in Portland and often sell out and close up shop as soon as […]

    My nephew lives in Portland and he has taken me to VooDoo as well as another shop called Coco Donuts. I’ll have to try Blue Star on my next visit.

    My wife and I went to Voodoo (not the downtown location, on advice from a local friend) on our Oregon Coast honeymoon in October, and came away with the conclusion that tastier doughnuts were not possible. I’m not sure if we’ll ever be in Portland long enough to warrant two trips to doughnut shops, but we might have to make time for Blue Star.
