Plated.

Have you heard of it?

Plated is a weekly box of fresh and seasonal ingredients, pre-portioned for the recipes you choose, so you can create great food with less effort.

Basically it’s a food service! You pick out recipes and meals you like. You order said meals. Fresh, seasonal, pre-portioned ingredients and recipe cards arrive at your door. You cook these meals at your convenience and enjoy!

It’s really simple to do and so far, we have LOVED everything we’ve tried! I started ordering these meals out of necessity when I was about 10 weeks pregnant and still wanted nothing to do with food when my energy levels were scarce. {That nausea is a real beeotch.} I was definitely avoiding the kitchen! These meals SAVED me. I hardly had to do anything and they were done in a cinch. PLUS, I didn’t have to take my kids grocery shopping which is something I dreaded the whole first trimester. Really convenient for me.

When you take into consideration what you are getting for the price, it is so worth it for me! I mostly love the time it saves me as a working mother, and the convenience of having everything pre-portioned in the correct amounts. Plus, the meals I chose were delicious. I was a little skeptical at first because I’M A VERY POPULAR FOOD BLOGGER {a little inside joke with my sisters…are you reading today Shayna & Chelsea?!} but, I’m not a chef. The people creating these dishes are chefs and thus far, we’ve had no complaints about the meals we’ve gotten.

Once little nugget numero tres makes it’s debut, I will probably be ordering more than 2 meals a week because we’re going to be exhausted. And lets be honest–I’m not organized enough to make freezer meals in advance. I had good intentions with the first two, but nothing ever happened.

PLATED COLLAGE 1

These days, we order 2 plates for our family of 4, mostly because we know our kids eat like birds. And, although my appetite has returned, my stomach can’t quite hold the amount of food it used to. Ah, side effects of growing babies in my womb. If you have older kids and adults in the house, you might want to order them a full portion.

Here are a few photos from the first recipe we got: Chicken Avocado Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries and Aioli. So tasty and ready in about 40 minutes.

Out of all the meals we’ve gotten so far this has been Brooke’s favorite. Blake mostly just ate the fries. 🙂

And, because I love ya, Plated is offering a new promotional deal for Lauren’s Latest readers! If you purchase 4 plates, then you get the next 2 plates FREE! {1 plate = 1 portion of food; you order in 2’s.} It’s really a steal of a deal and one that I am taking advantage of. Like I said before, it has been a life saver for us, plus my kids LOVE it. Promotion should be good until the end of the month.

You’ll be seeing more of these Plated meals pop up here and there because I really like the service and it’s worked really well for my family. Feel free to recreate the meals at home or order them for yourself. You can check out their menus here. They change week to week and are based around produce that is in season.

Have a great day, friends!

PS- they have not paid me to say these nice things. I just really like this service and thought you might too.

That looks pretty tasty! Did you really put some avocado in the chicken patty? Also, congrats on baby #3. I’ve been following you since right before baby #2 arrived. I love your recipes and reading about your family. Best wishes and many blessings to you and your family.

I first was looking at Blue Apron because it was more well know, but when I went to sign up, I could only look at so many pages before it asked me to sign up, give my email address and credit card information. Plus a lot of the meals they had I wasn’t THAT impressed with. I noticed that there were a lot more menu options with Plated week to week. Also, more kid-friendly food that I could more easily convince my kids to try {burgers, tacos, burritos, pizza/flatbreads, etc.}.
