Brooke and Blake scootering around

City living certainly has it’s hard moments, especially in the winter when we are cooped up in a small apartment more often than not, but sometimes mother nature gives you a sneak peek of what is to come and its hard not to get excited.  Spring is almost here! Spring is almost here! I’m hoping there will be only a few more weeks of the cold, wind and rain until we get sweet and sunny days full time. Please oh please let that groundhog have been wrong.

Yesterday, I was able to take all three kiddos out scootering and we were out for nearly 3 hours! It was glorious. Gordon was even able to meet us at the park after work for a few minutes of “lava monster” before we had the long walk home. (If you follow me on instagram, you probably saw us out there, scootering away!)

It’s days like yesterday when the weather is so moderate and the sun is shining warmly that I’m so grateful for my little family. Also, grateful and thankful for the sun. The older I get, the more severe my seasonal depression gets…not that it’s in any realm close to ACTUAL depression…I just get super bummed day after day when it’s grey and cold. The days add up and then I am in a funk that is hard to get out of.

But, as I woke up this morning to more sun at 6:30 (ew!), I had hope that maybe it’s here to stay.

Here are a few photos I snapped (and Brooke snapped!) from our time out and about. Some of these were taken a few months ago before the hard winter showed up and the rest of them were of Brooke and Blake zooming around.

And for those of you who will ask about our scooters and clothes, I’ll include helpful links below.

Have a great day, friends! xo

We own this stroller and have come to really love, rely upon and appreciate it even though the price tag is high. I can load it up with tons of kids, groceries, backpacks, scooters and more! It holds a lot and makes it so I push everything smoothly home instead of having to carry it all. It also came with a clear plastic rain cover that I never thought I’d use, but it is totally necessary to keep Eddie warm and dry. We ended up selling our van, so this is like my new car. Ha!

Brooke wanted this scooter because it lights up, so we got it last summer. Her helmet matches it perfectly.

Blake has this three wheeled scooter. It took him a little bit to get used to it because you don’t steer with the handles, you lean your body. But, once he got the hang of it, he’s a real pro now!

Eddie’s hat is from Costco. Similar here.

My hat is old from an Under Armor outlet. Similar here.

My blue/grey coat is by Columbia from Nordstrom Rack from a few years back. Updated style of same coat here. (They don’t sell this version anymore. Womp womp)

My Gosh, those blue eyes of Eddies are piercing….love them! Glad you are enjoying some nicer weather. I live in MN and it is around 40 today, feels like 85! Not really, but with all the cold, snow, ice, yuk we have been having it is awesome. Love your updates!

It is fun to get a little peek into your family life. The children are adorable and you and your husband sound like you are very grounded and know what is important in life. Congratulations!

I love the part of the city where you live! It is so varied and beautiful. I also love your site, as i can follow a family story or explanation of a recipe and watch your little videos all at once. You brighten my winter day.

I feel the same way about seasonal depression. I definitely get the winter blues and it’s much worse now, at this stage in life, than when I was younger and didn’t have kids! I think it might just be part of having kids…being cooped up inside, trying to keep them entertained, trying to keep yourself entertained…and with 3 kids (I have two 9 year olds and a 3 year old), adults don’t get to do many of the things that are kind of nice to do on a gloomy day. Read, watch a movie, take a nap, etc. So I hope that someday, the winter blues won’t get me down so much. For now, I’m just waiting (and waiting, and waiting…) for spring to arrive in Seattle!

Get Eddie on a scooter! Mine was 22 months and zipping around the city. He’s def not too young. Micro mini is great for this age.
