Hola my peeps. WHAT.IS.UP?

I got another stitch fix box…holla! This one was…..how can I say this delicately….interesting. Take a look at what I got and you be the judge. Should I have kept more of these clothes or was I right to send them back?

The first item was a Market & Spruce Aleah V Neck-Heathered Dolman Sleeve Shirt in XS-$48. I have a lot of similar shirts to this one so I completely get why I got another one so similar. Except this one seemed to be waaaay to much fabric draped all over me.

I mean, doesn’t this look like I have wings? I could be a bat. Like, imagine if I jumped off a building. The aerodynamics of this shirt would probably allow me to fly safely to the ground. Didn’t like this at all, so I sent it back.

Numero dos was a Market & Spruce Kristah Ruffle Knit Blazer in XS- $78. I really had a hard time with this one. I really liked it on the hanger. And I really liked it unbuttoned. I loved the color and I loved the ruffle details on the back {see below}. But….look at this next picture:

I buttoned it up and all the fabric started pulling from every direction {do you see it in the shoulders?} and the collar kept unfolding itself. I figured it was too small for me, plus looked a little funky with the pulling fabric and annoying collar so sadly, I sent it back.

But look how cute the back was!!! I was bummed about this one. I really wanted it to look better all buttoned up.

Number 3: Pixley Lyra 3/4 Sleeve Abstract Chevron Dress in S- $58. Busy pattern + big loosey goosey box. I felt like this wasn’t doing my figure any favors so I sent it back.

#4: Loveappella Hetty Maxi Dress in S- $78. Finally something I like!! Comfy, cute and the right length {which never happens because I’m so short!} So I gladly kept this one and wore a jean jacket over it and had a cute outfit for church last Sunday. #winning #socomfy

Last but not least: Tart Jett Striped Jacket in XS- $134.  YOU GUYS. You could not pay me $134 to wear this thing. Where do I even begin? The shoulder pads, the different lines, the zipper, the fabric…..it all was just a combination of bad things that was way too much for me. Not my style at all. Gladly sent this back.

So there you have it. 1/5 things stayed put with me.

Usually my average is 3/5 items kept so, this months box was unfortunate. Usually they’re so good!! Oh well.

March, don’t fail me now!

i think you should have kept the blazer. it was so cute. and really, who wears them buttoned up anyhow? 😉 i know i don’t!!

My stitchfix was totally weird this month too! They did great for the last 2 months and I kept everything. It’s probably good for my bank account that it wasn’t great anyway 🙂

I liked the jacket too but it was way too small. That last top with so many things wrong in your mind, looked really good on you! Shoulder pads like in this jacket are coming back – though not enormous ones like in the recent past. The price would have killed it for me. But honestly, none of these looked terrible on you!

Personally I like the blue chevron knit dress on you. Would look cute with pair of flat sandals in the spring/summer. Grey jacket with ruffles in the back cuts you off-needs to be a little longer–a definite return. I agree size-wise you are probably in between in some of these items. Just my opinion.

I got that gray blazer too and in my normal size it did the exact same thing when I buttoned it up 🙁

I love the dress you kept. I also like the striped jacket…perhaps with the shoulder pads removed. I think it would be cute worn open with a fun tee or tank underneath.

That’s very unfortunate about the blazer! So cute especially the back. I don’t blame you for not being thrilled about this box.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be happy with that either. I’ve had some bad Fixes, too. I figured out the stylist who gets me and sends me awesome clothes and I request her every time. Maybe if you get another Fix you don’t like or you know the stylist you like best, you can do that? I’ve been happy with every Fix I’ve had since I requested someone particular.

I agree with you, I didn’t like the striped jacket. The gray jacket was cute, but I do think it was too small, that’s why it looked weird. Chevron dress, no. And the first top is cute, but I think you can find cuter. I just think you’re as cute as can be Lauren, you’re one of my favorite bloggers. 🙂

Hello, I’m a grandma so I don’t keep track of what’s “in” and I’m not a fashionista but I do really like that striped jacket on you. Fits like a glove and the lines are flattering. Thank you for sending back the chevron; it was weird.
The batwing shirt is interesting….and curious. I’m wondering what the pattern piece was like that they cut it from; having a hard time picturing it. It seems there are so many choices out there, may as well only get what you love!

You are just adorable- anything you put on makes you look more beautiful. Those are lovely pieces, but, yes, some are much better than others. Good pick.

next time, check to see if they have stuff in a different size (especially for the blazer). it was really cute, but if it’s pulling that much, it would drive you crazy. i’ve had luck a few times asking if they had the next size up/down in something and just exchanging it. BUT they don’t always have the size available, so it’s not a guarantee.

    Hi Lauren!
I don’t know, is it just me or does anyone else think the price of the clothes always seem expensive for what they are? I’ve seen similar items out in the stores for much less. Anyway, I know you hated it and that’s all that matters but WOW, I think you look awesome in that striped jacket. Worn with a pair of skinny jeans and heels it would be great for a date night. It fit you like a glove. evidently striped jackets are “in” because I’ve been seeing them a lot in the stores. In a size smaller the chevron dress would have been nice, the color looked great on you. The ruffled blazer was really, really cute in the back! Not sure if a bigger size would have helped, or if it was just a flimsy knit they used that made it look sloppy in the front, for $78 to boot!! Hopefully you’ll fair better with next months box!

  13. Kelli

I always LOVE to see what you got in the box! I do love that first top on you. I saw the pic and thought “Cuuuute!!” but if it makes you feel weird then obvs no point in keeping it. And the back of that black jacket is darling! Too bad it didn’t fit!!

  14. Traci

I also get Stitch Fix. I’m fairly new to it and extremely selective about what I keep. I got a very similar Market and Spruce shirt to the one you got. Mine was navy and had horizontal stripes. It was the same cut though. It was cute (maybe not exact, I don’t remember the bat wing arms) However, I sent it back because what I like about SF is the uniqueness of their clothes. And this shirt I felt like I could have found at Kohls or somewhere similar for way less than $50. Not sure if you’re aware, but if you continue to not enjoy what you’re getting, you can request a different stylist. I try to keep at least one thing so my $20 dollar fee doesn’t go down the drain, but this time around all but one piece went back from my box too.

  15. Jenny

I like the dress you kept. I would have sent the rest back too! I had to quit stitch fix because I would find everything cheaper or similar clothes at Nordstrom or Old Navy:/

  16. Michelle

i, too, am a Stitch Fix addicted military wife. I finally found a stylist that is great. Her name is Shawna. I request her for every shipment now. Maybe you could give her a chance and be pleasantly surprised.

  17. Emily @ Life on Food

It was a little off. I like the first top and how it looks but I can see how it felt like you were swimming in fabric. That last jacket looks like it is from some futuristic movie!!
