Good Food Here Food Carts

Last week, my cute little family and I headed out for lunch to a different spot in Portland…we checked out the Good Food Here Food Carts pod. A lot of the carts weren’t open for the season yet, but the few that were definitely didn’t disappoint.ย

Something different about this pod of food carts: there was a parking lot–>!!! Amazing.

That is all.

After walking around and taking inventory of what was open and what we felt like eating we made our purchases…..here’s what we got ๐Ÿ™‚

Gord decided to get his lunch from Brazilian House. Did I ever tell you he spent a good chunk of time in Brazil? And he speaks fluent Portuguese? WELL, he did and he does. So once he saw this cart, he couldn’t stop smiling and he had an instant craving. After ordering his food, he talked to the owner in Portuguese for like 10 more minutes.

So we waited cause I couldn’t exactly eavesdrop and I took pictures…..sounds about right for me.

This is the food Gord got: feijoada {feh-juh-wadda} with rice and collards. It was a smokey, creamy stew. It was yum.

He also got these coxinhas {co-sheen-ee-ahs}…like spiced chicken balls that are deep fried. Nuggets of heaven, yo. I was surprised at how much I actually liked these. Really good.

I asked Gord what was in these and all he could tell me was ‘chicken and spices’. Yeah, thanks buddy.

Brooke wanted a burger, so we chose this cheeseburger from Timber’s Doghouse. I was totally not expecting this burger to be as amazing as it actually was. Lots of cheese, pickle relish, juicy burger, soft bun…plus A LAYER OF CRISPY CHEESE. –>I should have ordered this myself. It was probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The fries were pretty amazing too. Next time I must try their tot bowls.

I know, right? TOT BOWLS.

ALSO: the service I got was amazing. The owner/worker/lady at the window was so so kind. I’d give her service any day. Everyone needs to go here.

I got a super falafel from Aybla Grill. I should have gotten a Gyro because apparently they have “the best Gyro in Portland”. Oops. But the falafel was bueno. I liked it and couldn’t finish it because it was so huge. Aaaand because I had also eaten a burger and fries. #sorry #notsorry

Look how cute my family is! I love them….also, my husband has particularly nice looking lips in this photo.

Haaaaaaaay ๐Ÿ˜‰

After lunch, I took this little one for a walk around to let food settle…except we found these little devils:

Hawaiian doughnuts, yo. Obviously I ordered 6.

These were from Namu and were made fresh. Hot, sweet pillowy doughnuts. A good decision fo’sho’.

We all had sugar lips and these two wanted me to take a picture. Side note: Brooke’s bangs are finally FINALLY growing back to a normal length! Hallelujah.

Overall, we had a lovely time and ate some seriously tasty food. I can’t wait to go back in the summer and try the Hawaiian shaved ice and the mac and cheese food cart!

Also, there are tons of food trucks in Portland I have yet to try, so I’ll probably be visiting a few more this year!

You guys, I just love food. Love love love it. And love discovering new dishes + places to eat in my city. Love!

I LOVE food trucks!! You’re making me drool with all the food you guys got. I need to come back to Portland and you can take me to all these places, ok? ๐Ÿ™‚

Those doughnuts?? Just wow! And how cool are food truck parks? We visited a brand spanking new one in Harrisonburg, VA, and it was the coolest thing. And yes- they had their own parking lot! ๐Ÿ™‚ I think these food truck parks (or as you all call them, pods) are going to be the next big thing with the local foods scene.

My husband, baby and I are making a trip to Portland at the beginning of next month and we can’t wait. I love reading your portland eats posts so we can get some ideas on places to eat while we are there. Here in Utah most of the food carts travel around, are these ones always in the same place year round? I’d love to be able to visit them – especially get one of those burgers and try a gyro from that place you got the falafal. And I’m in love with donuts too – so would you suggest voodoo donuts, or these babies, or both? Any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them too – or things to do with a 10 month old baby boy. Thanks!

Yes, the cart ‘pods’ stay in the same place. Hardly any of the food carts move, so they’re easy to find. Be sure to check out this post {https://laurenslatest.com/best-portland-restaurants-recommendations/} for more recommendations. Blue Star Donuts is another great donut place in the pearl.

Our favorite food cart is no more. ๐Ÿ™

We used to love Curbside Grill over in Sellwood, but they sold their ‘cart’ a while back, planning on opening a store front, and were never heard from again.

We haven’t really tried anything else.

SUCH BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS!!! OK, so last year my husband and I went to Portland for our anniversary and loved it so much we want to visit it again! I’m definitely pinning this for places to check out for our next visit!

I’m saving all your Portland Eats posts so I can reference them when it’s time for our fall vacation. We’ll be spending some time in Portland and on the coast. Thank you for making me look forward to the food as much as I’m looking forward to the ocean and sightseeing!!!
