When I was in Austin for BlogHerFood, I definitely made it a priority to visit as many restaurants I could that all of you recommended to me. Gourdough’s has been at the top of my list for quite some time after I saw a feature on the Food Network. Crazy doughnuts is all I remembered about them and boy was that the right thing to remember! Just wait until you see some of these doughnuts!Hungry? Why yes, yes I was. And suddenly still am. Funny how that works…Here’s the menu board! Soooooo many yummy choices to choose from!Jessica held Blake for me while I stuffed my face. Tina was also along for the ride too. And then after we were finishing up our doughnuts, Amanda and Jenny showed up for some too! It was doughnut carnage by the time we were done! Here are all the doughnuts I tried:This is the Flying Pig: maple glazed doughnut with bacon! One of my favorites of the day, but that’s just because I’m a sucker for the salty sweet combo.Miss Shortcake Doughnut: cream cheese frosting with fresh strawberries. Pretty tasty too.The Funky Monkey: grilled bananas with cream cheese frosting and brown sugar. This was delish!Another one of my favorites for sure was this Son of a Peach doughnut: peach pie filling, cream cheese frosting and cake mix! That cake mix DID ME IN. I love love loved it on this.Hold onto your hats. This is the Mother Clucker: fried chicken topped doughnut, then drizzled with melted honey butter. Are you DYING yet? This one was INSANE. I loved it for sure…..that salty sweet man!! Gets me every time.Speaking of insane….ahem. Amanda and Jenny mentioned to us that the day we were visiting was national doughnut day, so they had a bunch of new doughnuts that weren’t on the menu that we could order. This is basically a banana split doughnut, complete with ice cream, strawberries, bananas, brownies, peanuts and caramel. Ridiculous, right? Of course it was amazing. Another doughnut for doughnut day not on the regular menu was this Peanut Butter + chocolate Reese’s pieces one! Mmm…And, this Key Lime Pie doughnut. Really tasty too!
Basically, I loved ALL the doughnuts I tried here and think you all would too! If you live in Austin or will be visiting anytime soon, you must stop by Gourdough’s! Amazing amazing amazing doughnuts.
