Pregnancy Update {Weeks 24 & 25}

25 weeksSo, turns out time is flying by! Funny how that works….

Anyways, here are a few things going on with my pregnancy worth noting:

– No matter how much I sleep, I feel exhausted. Probably because I’m getting really uncomfortable and can never seem to fall asleep. Surrounding myself with pillows seems to do the trick. Or sleeping on the couch. I can lie against the side so I’m tilted up AND I figured out if I face the couch, my belly gets supported by the back. Sleeping on the couch is a last resort.
– Oh, and I need to sleep tilted up because this little dude is seriously killing my lung capacity.
– Overall I’ve gained 16 1/2 pounds. Considering I’m almost to my 3rd trimester {and gained 50 pounds in my first pregnancy}, I think I’m doing well. The doctors told me I should only gain 15, but lets be real. I’m a food blogger who likes to eat. If I gain less than 50, I’ll be happy!
– Things are getting puffy. My ankles especially.
– My lower back is starting to be achy, but I think that has to do with the painting we’re doing and me picking up and holding my *almost* 4 year old a lot.
– I crave cold cereal, grapefruit, chocolate covered strawberries and burgers. And occasionally spaghetti.
– My whole lower half has started to spread. Hips, butt and thighs are getting bigger! When I was 7 months pregnant the first time around, my husband was watching me get dressed and said “Your butt is really big”. YEAH. We’re getting to that point again! Luckily I weigh at least 30 pounds less than I did then! Of course he denies this completely.

24 weeks

Things to look forward to:

-finishing the nursery! We’re done all the painting {thank goodness} but have to expand the closet and install the crown molding and of course get some little odds and ends like picture frames and new bedding before it’s completely done.
-my glucose test is next week. I’m soooo not looking forward to this!
-My third trimester is just around the corner! Time to get super uncomfortable now. Haha!
-figuring out a name for this little guy! Gordon and I had our list of names, but can’t decide on ANY of them so we’re starting fresh…hoping to find one we both can agree on. Luckily we have a few more weeks to figure that out!
-I’m really hoping this baby is early or right on time. That little girl of mine came right on her due date, believe it or not! Pipe dream, perhaps but a girl can dream, right?
-And of course I’m getting anxious to see what this baby is going to look like in person! His profile from the 2nd ultrasound we had was just the cutest thing ever but is he going to have a ton of hair {like me} or come out bald {like Gord?} OR is he going to have any of my facial features or be a mini dad? I have so many questions that cannot possibly be answered until I hit 40 weeks and am approximately the size of a watermelon.

So, questions for you all–>

Where can I find grey or navy chevron blankets? I’m also looking for white and grey blankets with elephants on them, similar to one I found at Pottery Barn. I love Pottery Barn stuff…just not their prices! Ouch…

I’m looking for cute baby art for the walls in the nursery. Maybe animals or the alphabet? Do you know any crafty etsy people or stores that have something cute? Let me know! Links are welcome!

I’ve had these chevron blankets bookmarked forEVER: http://www.etsy.com/listing/97290601/monogrammed-baby-blanket-chevron

Also, not sure if you need something like this, but my guy has these in his nursery: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/home-bath/093615.jsp. I use the tall one for laundry and the other two for toys.

A cute idea for alphabet art is to have friends and family choose a letter and come up with how to decorate it unless you are having a baby shower and then have each guest to bring a finished letter to the shower. I’ve seen scrapbook paper, cardboard, collages and wooden letters. It makes a very unique wall display! Enjoy this time. As a mother of 4 grown kids, its the best time of your life. God Bless to your entire family.

When my daughter was expecting we found clip art pics she liked (panda & white tiger) and painted them on the wall. Since I have no drawing ability, I used an overhead projector and drew outline. Michaels had oil paint pens, then using gloss water base paint and food coloring filled in the pics. If I knew how to send you links to my Facebook pics, you could see them. Good luck Lauren, you’re super woman in my eyes!!

As far as the glucose test, I recommend the orange sugary drink (it’s the easiest to get down). It tastes like super-concentrated Hi-C. It helps if it’s extra cold… I just downed it fast and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. I had to do it twice.

For baby art, Costco’s photo center (online) has a lot of prints that you can order (for the same price as a regular photo). You can search by theme or animal (or whatever) and you may find some things to complement your nursery.

We didn’t agree on our son’s name until my water broke – at 36 weeks! While I was being induced we finally agreed on the name (the one I chose!).

I think 15 lbs overall is unachievable. Seriously!!! At least for me, I feel good if I gain less than 50 (which never happened in all 4 pregnancies). So you look and sound like you are right on track to making one darling baby! Aaaand if you’re looking for elephants… (and other animals) I do have some in my zazzle store… just for options sake..

or a set of tools (which I have in my baby boy’s room) :

Also Sarah Jane has some really, really, REALLY darling elephant art too. (and might look better in a baby’s room anyway) And I rarely covet other artist’s work… but I do hers.

Not sure about the blankets, but there’s a very cute chevron boppy cover I’ve been eyeing that comes in grey and white. Check it out here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/115179583/boppy-coverchevron-boppy-cover-with?ref=usr_faveitems

We’re having our first child in the beginning of April and are also going with a grey and white nursery (with hints of blue and yellow)! Good choice ๐Ÿ™‚

I plan on buying a few of the pictures from this site for wall art! https://www.theanimalprintshop.com/ The animals are adorable, now I’m just having a hard time picking a few out!!

There is a shop on Etsy called SimplyChicLily that does fantastic paper butterflies for the wall. The way they are put together is stunning and NOT just for girls. Lots of blues or multi colours. I always though one could add extra inexpensive butterflies from somewhere like BelowBlink or ThePrettyPaperShop (both on Etsy) to bulk out the design. I suggest you read the feedback, it is all good and one that stuck with me – I looked at buying them over a year ago but had not allowed enough time – was a mother saying her child said good morning to all the butterflies each day when they awoke, I thought that was so sweet and how much the child much love them. Good luck in your search Lauren ๐Ÿ™‚
