How have you been feeling?
TIRED. So so tired. Third trimester exhaustion is real, people. But I’m also getting excited! I think with all things considered, I’ve been feeling as good as possible. All things meaning: baby kicking me in the lungs, not being able to sleep comfortably, having that round ligament pain whenever I move, feeling lots of low pressure on my lady parts, not being able to eat very much at any given time but still feeling starving most of the time, etc. etc..If you too are in your third trimester, I feel your pain. I keep telling myself it could be worse so that makes me feel a little better about things, but it’s rough. This by far has been my most taxing pregnancy.
But, I do have to say that my husband has been AMAZING these last few weeks as I continue to get bigger and bigger {meaning less and less helpful}. He gets up with the kids in the morning so I can rest longer, he lets me nap, he does chores here and there, he takes the kids out so I can have more quiet time and he even goes out and gets me things I crave at 10:30 at night! He’s seriously the MVP of our family all day every day.
Weight gain?
At my last doctor’s appointment, I think I was right around 30 pounds gained. I’m probably slightly above that now, considering Christmas just happened and I happened to not turn down the sweet treats that came my way. I have an appointment in the next few days, so we’ll see! I’m not too worried about it. I gained 40 pound with Blake, so I basically have 4 1/2 weeks to stay under that!! Haha!! Again, not super worried. Once the babies come out and start nursing, most of the weight falls off {thankfully!}
Exercise? Yay or Nay?
I’m starting to taper off of the exercise, but I think its mostly holiday-related. I’ve been pretty busy traveling, cleaning the house, getting ready for Christmas, baking, cleaning my house again, etc. etc. This week of Christmas I was still able to make it to the gym twice, so at least that’s something! I’m really proud of myself for still making the time to go. I think making the gym a habit has really kept my weight lower than the previous two pregnancies. Who knows, maybe this baby will be my lightest child yet?! I did gain 10 pounds LESS with Blake and he ended up weighing more than Brooke did…who knows! It’s all a guessing game.
How are you sleeping?
Ugh. Do I have to talk about it? I have been getting progressively more and more uncomfortable, making it really difficult to fall asleep. Blake {my 2 year old} is also getting really good at waking up in the middle of the night to use the potty too, which under normal circumstances is great {yay potty training!!}, but because I’ve been feeling so exhausted. Waking up to take him to the potty may have something to do with this. He also wakes up ready to start his day anywhere between 5 and 6 am. It’s AWFUL! So I guess me feeling like the walking dead 87% of the time could be pregnancy related OR it could just be my toddler waking me up all.the.time.
Cravings?
Just once this last month I really craved a burger and my husband lovingly obliged and went out and got me a burger…bless his heart. Other then that, I have aversions to foods more than cravings. I mostly can’t handle very many sweets. I don’t feel like dessert ever and can’t stand the thought or smell of scrambled eggs. Besides that, everything is just same old same old. Cereal or toast for breakfast, some kind of leftovers or a sandwich/salad concoction for lunch and our same tacos, chicken, pizza, stir fry, spaghetti routine for our dinners. Boring, yes. But it works. Also, I can’t eat a ton at any given time. I load up my plate and do my best to eat it all, but usually I fail miserably. I can eat about half a dinner plate of food before my in-utero child starts squirming uncomfortably, making me full and even more uncomfortable. But then an hour later, I’m starving again. Soooo, that’s fun. I’ll be so excited to get this baby in my arms and out of my tummy!!
Baby Movements?
Uh, YES. All day, everyday! Most of the time, he is relatively low key and has itty bitty movements here and there {because he’s apparently 5 pounds now and taking up lots of room!} but every evening around 10:30, he is on FIRE! Like, cue all the music here comes the jazzersize. I’m supposed to be doing my count kicks now, and it never fails that I can get 10 kicks or movements under 30 seconds. It’s WILD. My husband can see the baby move in my belly from across the room. He things it’s pretty entertaining stuff. Blake was a pretty similar baby too…just very active. My doctor is THRILLED. Active babies mean healthy babies, so counting my blessings about that.
Other Miscellaneous thoughts?
I think I’m getting pretty big because I’m starting to get comments from strangers asking me when I’m due, especially at the gym! Probably because I wear skin-tight clothing and it’s obvious that I’m just HUGE. Only a few more weeks to go before I meet this little nugget of heaven!! We are so excited.
Some of our baby stuff we ordered is starting to arrive and it’s getting us so excited for this little boy to get here. We got a new dresser/changing table a few days ago and will be getting the new car seat and stroller soon too! I have the tiny newborn baby clothes all washed and hung in the closet and the crib all set up and made. A few more weeks and I’ll have everything in order and all ready for baby!
Incase you’re wondering, you can see all the stuff we have in the baby’s nursery here. I wrote a post about it for ebay, but will most likely do another one with better photos in the near future.
And, this is how big I was last time around pregnant with Blake! It’s fun to look back and compare 🙂
PS-see the items I have for my nursery here.
I so enjoyed reading this blog! I liked Gordon’s contribution!! I can remember how tired I was near the end!
