Homestretch, ya’ll!! It just seems like yesterday that I was announcing to you that I was pregnant! And now….I’m {hopefully} only days away from delivering this bundle of joy 🙂
There’s really not a whole lot to report, other then the fact that I’m getting anxious. And excited. And very impatient. Here are the basics in a nutshell:
-My ankles and feet are puffy.
-My belly is HUGE.
-This little boy is still healthy and very active.
-Everything is looking good. My measurements are right on and I’ve actually lost a few pounds {which apparently is normal near the very end of pregnancy….who knew?}
-Baby gave me a scare this past weekend–I had contractions for 7 hours from 11 pm – 6 am Friday night to Saturday morning. They were somewhat mild but started to creep into the really uncomfortable/painful territory. Luckily I was dozing in and out of them. This is how my labor started with Brooke except we went to the hospital right away. The hospital didn’t take me and made me walk around for 2 hours to “make sure I really was in labor”. Well, I was {thank the good Lord}, got admitted, got my epidural at 4 am and slept until I pushed her out at noon. Didn’t really feel like doing that this time around, hence me opting for the dozing in my own bed. I figured if things got bad enough, I’d be woken up by the pain. So, that’s what I did. Oh, and I didn’t want to call my friend over at 2 am to stay with my daughter especially if I ended up NOT being in labor. I’m so thoughtful.
-Anyways, I was totally exhausted the entire weekend and feel like I’m still playing catch up with my sleep.
-I know that sounds ridiculous now because in a few days I’m going to wish this little guy was still inside of me so I could sleep longer than 2 hours at a time. Exhaustion is going to become my new bff. I’d better get used to it.
-Luckily, when I got checked at my Doctor yesterday, I was dilated to 3 cm already, so that’s good! All those middle of the night contractions paid off! I’m hoping my labor will be a little faster this time around 🙂 But not too fast….let me get to the hospital with time to get some pain meds in me!
-My lower back sometimes hurts very rarely– for the most part it’s fine. If anything it’s my feet and calves that hurt and cramp. Totally random.
-I’m 12 pounds lighter than I was when I delivered Brooke….maybe that’s why my back doesn’t hurt nearly as much?
-I’ve been sleeping in as much as I can {with a working husband} and been trying to get as many naps in the day as possible. I’m trying to catch up now so I’m 100% healthy and ready to go with this baby.
-The baby’s nursery is pretty much finished! We tore down a small wall to extend the closet, patched it, painted it and added in all our shelving! All I need now is a few more pieces of artwork and a rocking chair! I’ll post pictures soon 🙂
And now for my questions:
-Who wants to work their voodoo magic and put me into labor? Come on! You know you want to!
-Are 2nd babies usually on time? Or are your track records all over the map? –>I’m trying to plan this out and there’s really no point! I should just stop and accept the fact that this little guy is going to come ‘when he’s going to come’ blah blah blah….
[…] Well, no baby yet!! I’m getting anxious and uncomfortable, but I really shouldn’t complain because I’m not even to my due date yet! I’ve been having lots of {annoying} false labor pains that seem to be getting me nowhere. If I haven’t had the baby by the weekend, I’ve got an appointment early Monday morning so maybe my doctor can work some voodoo magic! But for now, my little one is perfectly content squishing all my organs. {You can read my last pregnancy update here.} […]

You and your belly are breath taking 🙂 I’m so excited to see your little bundle arrive!
Ahh! Almost time!!!! So exciting! Good luck with labor! I hope you get plenty of pain meds too 😉
I’m so excited for you!
Man the anticipation!! I am so excited for you!
First babies (for white women) are on average born at 41 weeks 1 day (i.e. 8 days after the due date they’re given). Later babies (and babies of non-white mothers) are born at average 3 days at 40 weeks 3 days after due date. The 40 week rule isn’t the most accurate, but it’s tradition so it’s hung around. The above is what has been found with research. But individual babies can be different. My first was 2.5 weeks early and my 2nd 5 days late. But, the average 2nd baby will be a bit earlier.
My second child came 9 weeks early! 5 weeks in NICU and then she was home. She is a happy-healthy 5 1/2 year old now! Best wishes on your new little bundle! Keeping you in my prayers for a pleasant easy delivery!
Yay!! Not much longer now! I just had my 3rd a couple months ago but no labour with her because she was breech so we had a c-section. Same as my first. My 2nd was a week late, but that was my first and only labour. I hope you have a quick and smooth labour! Good luck!
My wife ate a bowl of homemade strawberry ice cream and our daughter arrived the next day. She arrived so fast that my wife didn’t get a chance for the epidural but she said that the pain was bearable. Funny thing is strawberries are my daughter’s most favorite food. Anything with strawberries, she’ll eat without question. Praying and wishing that it will be a fast, smooth and “painless” delivery.
My dear I hate to say this but babies come when they are ready! I know, I sound like my granny, bless her heart! For me baby #1 was 36 weeks (no problems, middle of night labor which stopped only to resume 5 hours later, delivering 4 hours after that); baby #2, 37 weeks… (fast, fast labor/delivery! umm like 1 hour fast…); baby #3, 38 weeks (about 4 or 5 hours labor total.) Yep my doctor was surprised when we decided to not have any more… he informed me I was “made to have babies!” Thanks doc! (yes his wife was pregnant with #6 at the time!)
Just know that we are praying for you and the little one, safe delivery, quick recovery, doctors, etc.
My husband swears that eating spicy tacos and then going on a four wheeler ride just a joy ride on paved road not the ride you think of when four wheeling put me into labor with my first son! Now when second son came around we did that step for step….. Nothing happened just a bad gut ache! And my first son was born at 36 weeks and my doctors kept telling me I would go faster and sooner and baby boy #2 was born at 39 weeks! So all on all there is no timing or planning this baby and his arrival! It’s a nice thought though!
This is so exciting!!! My second one was two weeks early, but he was in distress and it was a bad situation. He’s fine though. 🙂 My third was a week late.
