Here we go again with another week under my belt!

Here’s what happened this week:

My kids are starting to sneak into my bed at all hours of the night and I don’t notice because (1) I’m asleep and (2) I have a king-sized bed and they enter at the opposite side. Once Gordon gets back, those kids of mine are going to be sorely disappointed. Plus, my husband is way better about sending kids back to bed. Me? Notsomuch. I’m too tired to care.

Brooke scored the winning points for her team’s last volleyball game and it was the most precious and awesome thing ever!! My heart is so happy watching her play, succeed, and enjoy her own accomplishments. Her teammates were jumping up and down and giving high fives to her. It was seriously so precious 🙂 WAY TO GO BROOKE!

Yesterday at Dinner, Blake out of nowhere said “thanks for cooking dinner, mom‘ with zero coaxing or bribing from me. It was literally out of nowhere. So I said “you’re welcome” and Brooke tried to one-up him and said “thanks for being awesome and cooking great food and being the best mom ever.” Well played, children. Well played.

Brooke also wanted me to open my Mother’s Day present early because I’m not going to be in town this weekend to celebrate. She gave me a framed picture of herself with a card that said she loves me so so so so so so so so much. That’s eight so’s, incase you’re one to count.

I’m starting to clear stuff out of my house and drop it off to Goodwill. It’s sort of weird to think we’ll only be bringing, like, 20 boxes of items to New York. I’ve sold most of our furniture already and some larger kitchen equipment. Now, I’m working room by room and packing, throwing out or donating everything. I even sold one of our two cars too! Things are getting real. In a month, I’ll be arriving at my parents house and Gordon will be finishing his training! NUTS.

The weather is turning to warm warm warm gorgeous sunny weather! It’s like the summer gods have decided to smile down upon us.

Even when it isn’t the sunniest or most glorious day, Blake still requires that his window stay open no matter what. It makes him happy, so I keep up the charade. Plus, he’s so cute in his sunglasses!

Eddie is starting to stay up well beyond his bedtime and I don’t like it at all! He used to go down at 6:30 and now its more like 8:30 or even 9! I’ve tried letting him scream, but he will SCREAM preventing the other kids from being able to fall asleep at their bedtime, around 7:30 or 8. What a rascal he is!! Definitely always keeping me on my toes.

Coming up this week:

We are traveling to Utah on Thursday so my dear, sweet friend Amy can watch my kiddos so I can fly to NYC to find an apartment! Yikes! Is this REAL LIFE? Gordon is going to be there for about 36 hours and we’re hopeful that our realtor can find an amazing place for us 🙂 I’m not setting the bar very high, so I hopefully will easily impress. Haha!

Oh, and I GET TO SEE MY HUSBAND. Haven’t seen that guy in….9 weeks? Something like that. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have a husband.

Brooke is a little upset that she’s missing a volleyball game, but excited she gets to see her friend, Savannah, Amy’s daughter. Blake is also excited to see Amy’s boys.

I have my monthly facial this week and I’ve been looking forward to it since my last facial. I’m telling you, I don’t buy a lot of clothes or make-up, but I could spend a small fortune at the spa. It’s my very favorite thing. That and the dermatologist.

I have on my schedule to pack up my office and my husband’s office before Thursday, which means I need to edit a bunch of photos before then so I can actually pack up. Oh boy.

The movers will be here in two weeks! Ahh!

Breathe. One thing at a time.

Hope you all are having a wonderful week!! And if you have any last minute NYC restaurant recommendations or places we should live, let me know! Now is the time.

    Dear Lauren,
First of all I love your blog!!
To move to NYC is very exciting!!
My husband and I live in NYC with our 4 children (17, 15, 13 and 9) right in the middle of Manhattan on the Upper East Side. We are from Germany and live now 19 years in the city – all kids are born here – we love it!! The Upper East Side is fantastic for families. Great public schools, playgrounds, close to the park, tons of restaurants and with the new 2nd Ave. subway very convenient! So many children and families are here. Doctors and hospitals etc. (very important with kids ????????) You can ask me any questions or visit for cake and coffee anytime for a little break from the busy life when you are in the city.????
    Best wishes
