Date night with my favorite husband.

Hello, hello! Another week gone!

Here’s what happened this past week:

My kids have been out of school this past week for the mid-winter break. I don’t understand why our kids have so many days off the entire school year, but whatever. The city is weird. ANYWAYS, the week consisted of us trying to find fun things to do while I tried to nurse myself back to health. I have a cold that won’t go away. ✌️

Our master bedroom is slowly coming together. Gordon put together our new navy bed frame and I don’t think we’ve ever had one that is so pretty. I LOVE it. I also picked out this duvet cover from Ikea and love how they look. They are just my style. The only thing that would make this whole situation better is if we could remove all the boxes everything came in. There isn’t room in the small little recycling area and our super said to wait til Tuesday. So once the garbage is gone, things will be 1000% better! I just ordered these nightstands too, so slowly we are getting there! Once step at a time.

You can sort of see the new bed frame behind Porter plus new bedding 🙂

Brooke had two playdates with one friend and a sleepover with another friend at some point this week, though she wanted to be out of the house away from her family the entire week, but I said no. Haha! I don’t have the patience to organize 47 playdates for the week.

Eddie still had school two days last week, so when he had school and Brooke was away, I took Blake out for a little mommy-son time. We walked down to McDonalds for lunch and I was reminded why I hate city McDonalds. They are SO busy, though two of the employees told me how cute Porter was. Ok, fiiiine, we’ll stay a little longer. After lunch, we stopped by Trader Joes for a few groceries and then headed home.

On Thursday, we went to Westchester with friends to go to a trampoline park. It was the perfect thing to do on a cold morning. We drove out and played hard for a good four hours. They had foam pits, rock climbing walls, huge trampolines and sections for dodgeball too! It really was such a fun time.

We got our girl scout cookies delivered this week. I have a newfound love for thin mints!! Those things are good. Also, the s’more cookies are new to me but were pretty tasty too!

Saturday night was date night and we were able to meet up with Gordon’s brother and his girlfriend at Momofuku and holy.moly it was so so amazing. I’m not sure I’ve ever had such good asian food. We ordered plenty of food (as per my request) and none of it disappointed. The smoked pork ramen, cucumber salad, soy daikon, smoked chicken wings and beef katsu were all incredible. I am dying to go back.

Our piano arrived! Not a real piano…just a digital piano that the kids can learn on (and use headphones for). Brooke and Blake are starting with lessons first and based on how Eddie responds, we might throw him into lessons too. The teacher we found is fabulous, so I have complete confidence that she can teach all three, but I’m not sure how much information Eddie can retain at age 4. But, I started piano lessons at 4 back in the day, so it is possible!

And finally, I was able to book another Bahamian Disney cruise for April! Porter will be barely old enough, so we are thrilled to be able to go. The nanny we had over the summer is a character on one of the ships, so we were able to get a huge discount through her. Gordon can’t come so I recruited one of my Disney-loving best friends to tag along. I am so so excited! We are all Disney lovers, so it should be a great time for all. We are counting the days!

Here’s what is coming up this next week:

Gordon has a really random work schedule this week with different shifts and assignments every day. Basically, I forget what he is doing when and plan on doing everything at home without his help. It makes it so when he is home, its a nice surprise.

Rain in the forecast. Womp womp.

I’m re-testing my cheesecake recipe! I tested it last week and it was really good so I’m re-making it to be sure it doesn’t crack. It’s going to be fabulous…again 🙂

Lauren and Porter
Porter is so unimpressed with the baby carrier! He doesn’t even look like my baby when he isn’t smiling.

Sounds like a great week. Also I made your butter rice recipe and it is to die for. Second time I left out the bay leaf and I liked it better. So simple but really tasty.

Great picture of you and Gordon. Beautiful picture of you with porter. I don’t know how you do it with the kids and Gordon working odd hours. You seem to manage. Sounds like a good time when you go to Disney. Can’t wait to see your Cheese Cake recipe. Love hearing about you and the family. Hope you feel better soon.

Ahhh welcome to NYS!!! We just moved to the Buffalo area but my husband grew up here. Even his older sister who is 57 can remember winter break. It’s always the week of President’s day. For me it’s weird! Just like the thought of having school until the 3rd week of June! Ewwww ick! Ours boys are all in college elsewhere so it doesn’t affect us. Have a great week!!!

Wow, what a strange winter break just thrown in to confuse parents and mess up all the schedules! Sounds like you had a great time thought…Disney sounds wonderful….what a great get a way! I will be waiting to see if you can duplicate the no crack cheese cake . I love when you tell about places in NYC. We are finally going there this next summer…I know hot and heat but we will be there four nights and are going to pack in as much as possible!
