Lauren and Blake

Oh heeeeeey friends! Another week gone by 🙂

Here’s what happened this week:

First off, I just want to say that my husband has nine days left of training. NINE! Single digits people!! I know it’s a big deal for him to finally be finished training, but I FREAKING MADE IT. Gordon has been mostly absent since March and I had to go through some hellish weeks alone, with the move and the selling of our house and the driving across the country with three kids by myself and all. That wasn’t fun. But, looking back, I kind of feel like a bad ass. I DID IT and I’m going to scream it from the roof tops. Nine days nine days nine days!!

This week, Brooke has been getting much much better from her cold and Blake has been getting progressively more sick, presumably from Brooke. I kept him home from school on Friday because of a fever and cough. Friday was the worst day for him and we did kept him home from soccer on Saturday too. But since then, his fever has broke and his cough only really bothers him at night. Or his immune system is amazing. Eddie is still doing ok, and I have a touch of a sore throat, but that’s where it has stayed for the past 4ish days. I’m so grateful that I haven’t gotten this virus! Big blessing for sure. (PS- all of you who told me to get Delsym 12 hour…thank you!! That stuff worked so well!)

I did some last finalizations for a secret trip I’m planning for just Brooke and I late next week. This move, new living arrangements and new school has been roughest on her, so since her Dad will be available to watch certain little brothers, it just has worked out for me to get some brief but super fun time with her. (It’s currently top secret and she has no idea, so stay tuned! You all will know soon enough!) We’re flying out on the 10th and flying right back on the 11th. Like I said, super brief. Any guesses? 😉

We finally got some rainy fall weather this past week in New York and holy.moly. Do you know how hard it is to push a double stroller while holding an umbrella? And not hitting other pedestrians? OMG, kill me. I will be forevermore wearing hats and hoods to avoid the rain.

I almost have our apartment organized enough to snap a few photos so I can share the itty bitty abode we have in the city. I think our apartment is right around 900 square feet. It’s pretty tight, but with some organization (and a basement storage unit) we are good to go!

Eddie knows how to run now and always wants to run when we go outside. If he’s in the stroller, he

I finally got a gym membership! I was looking into all sorts of cool New Yorky studios like Pure Barre and SoulCycle, but those places didn’t have any childcare. Plus, did you know SoulCycle is nearly $50 a class? NOTHANKS. So, I had to look around for actual decent gyms with childcare that didn’t cost a million dollars. Well, turns out, YMCA is just as cheap here as it was in Idaho. Considering I’ve literally worked out twice since arriving in New York, it’s going to be a rude awakening for my poor muscles.

I’ve been looking into different eating programs that would make sense for me to follow and none of them include pie and/or cookies. Soooo, that’s fun. I might just focus on getting enough protein and veggies in a day and not care so much on the sweets or treats. I clearly haven’t figured it out yet.

Did you all know that you can order stuff from Costco online and they will ship it to you? WELL THEY DO and I nearly peed my pants. (Is this just a city thing or an everywhere thing?)  I was dying to get some Premiere Protein Chocolate Shakes (the pre-made ones because they taste like milkshakes that I always bought at Costco) and couldn’t find them. I mean, a few places had them but they were double the price. So, on a whim, I tried looking them up online on Costco’s website and hallelujah, you can add those suckers to your cart and checkout! So I did and they will be arriving Wednesday. Considering I’m trying to eat a little healthier, this is a welcome shipment.

This week marks 8 years of blogging at Lauren’s Latest! My husband and I celebrated at 10:30 at night by splitting a whole cake. As you can see, I was in sweat pants and a messy bun. An accurate representation of blogging at my house. Also getting posted this week: Sweet Potato Rolls and Pumpkin Pull Apart Bread. Both equally delicious and addicting. It’s a delicious week ahead 🙂

Coming Up This Week:

I think I’m meeting up with a few NYC bloggers this week 🙂 FUN!

My In-Laws are coming in on Friday to check out the city (and be here for Gordon’s graduation which is NEXT WEEK!)

Colder temperatures in New York with accompanying rain to make me look like a total bozo while pushing a stroller.

I’m getting my hair cut and colored this week (I think it’s this week.) I want to go darker, but I kind of want to stay blonde. I’m moderately indecisive. So, the decision making process is going GREAT.

HALLOWEEN! Where I’m going to take my kids trick or treating, I’m not quite sure. But it’ll definitely be an experience.

I’ll also be eating all the Reese’s. Dieting is not my strong suit.

I’m also going back to the dermatologist this week! Wheeee! That woman is my favorite.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!!

So happy that your husband is almost done! That must’ve been so hard. –Also, is there possibly a sentence missing after you talk about how Eddie loves running around?
