Hi Friends!

Another week gone by (and a little late because Gordon and I are on vacation!)

Here’s what happened this past week:

The week started with Blake bringing home his classroom teddy bear named Ricky Louis. If you saw my instagram stories, you’ll know that Blake took my phone and created his own little insta-story pretending to be Ricky Louis. It was the cutest. I love that Blakey-boy!! We had to do an activity with the bear, document it, print some photos and make a journal page for the huge journal that he travels with. This is basically homework for the Moms, by the way. I thought our page turned out pretty cute, and Blake got to tell me what to write. Special props to Gordon for taking the kids out to find things to do with Ricky.

I was able to get Brooke over to the pediatrician for a check up. All is well and she has grown an inch in the last 5 months. The doctor said she should grow another 1-2 inches by her birthday next year. WHAAAT is happening? Also, I love being able to spend time with my kids one on one and make them feel a little more special than we normally try to do 🙂

On Wednesday, I was supposed to take Eddie to his speech therapy appointment but walked three blocks before turning home because there was a huge storm rolling in. Half rain, half snow and so.much.wind! I could hardly take it and that darn wind kept taking Eddie’s breath away. So we walked home and hunkered down for a few hours before we had to go get Brooke and Blake from school. By the time I was walking over to grab them, it felt like slush was falling from the sky! We were all soaking wet, but so happy to have made it to our warm, dry home. Have I mentioned I’m ready for spring? Because I totally am.

Lauren and parents
My parents!! Bless their hearts for agreeing to watch my rascals who never stop having energy.

My parents and younger brother arrived on Thursday evening to take over our parental duties while Gordon and I traveled to Aruba for our belated 10-year anniversary! God bless my parents. We did pay for their flights though, so that might have sweetened the deal for them. (My younger brother has Downs Syndrome, so he comes along with them when they travel.)

I finally got my life together enough to remember to order more spark and it arrived this week in the mail! That stuff is phenom. Basically, it’s a super mild energy drink crossed with a multivitamin. I drink one every morning! I swear by it and have come to really love it. You can find it here.

Friday, we showed my parents around and helped them get the lay of the land and introduced them to Brooke and Blake’s teachers. Then on Saturday morning, we took an early flight out to Aruba! The really nice thing about living in New York is finding direct flights to just about anywhere. It took us about 4 hours to make it to paradise, and we’ve been here ever since!

Aruba is humid and has been windy this week, but has been so so nice! Gordon and I rarely get to have alone time together, so we are making this vacation count!! Sleeping in as much as possible, napping on the beach, getting dessert almost every night, etc. etc.. It’s lovely. I’ll be doing a recap post of our whole trip, but for now, I’m enjoying the sun and turquoise waters.

Eddie wearing a hat
Really wants to go to school like his brother.
What’s happening this week:

Gordon and I are still in Aruba!! We fly home Thursday evening and then business as usual! My parents and brother fly home on Friday morning and Gordon is back to work Friday as well.

That’s pretty much it for now!

Have a great week, friends! xo

You look as if you are so relaxed and having fun. It’s great to have several days of alone time with each other, you need it in a marriage, to reconnect I believe. Wishing you continuous fun and a happy time. So great to read your blog and recipes and following your family. Thanks so much.
