Gordon and the kids walking to church
I love the milder October days we still are getting. Soon we won’t be able to scooter to church!

It was a busy one!

Here’s what happened this past week:

The week started out with a bang! I got invited to the Facebook offices in NYC to learn more about their best practices and what bloggers can do to increase their presence and engagement on that platform. I also ran into a few of my blogging buddies which was so nice! I love being able to see familiar faces in this busy and oftentimes lonely city.

The whole meeting was supposed to be until 4, but I got a call from the school nurse at the elementary school saying Blake got hurt on the playground and needed to get picked up. Totally cryptic because they didn’t tell me how bad the injury was, but I assumed it wasn’t terrible since they didn’t call an ambulance. So, I went to school and got there about 45 minutes before they were going to be let out for the day anyways, so I just took him home. Poor kid got bonked on the head by another kid jumping off of the higher part of the play structure and got some scrapes and a big ‘ol shiner. It was right on the edge of his forehead and into his scalp, so it didn’t seem TERRIBLE but it definitely looked like it hurt. And when Blake gets hurt and starts crying EVERYONE knows. When I was signing his out, the principle even commented from her office about it! Oh Blake!

Ed continues to get progressively worse and more clingy at preschool drop-off. I feel like a horrible person every time as I hand his screaming body to the teacher and leave. Maybe it’s helping build both our characters? Regardless, I still feel horrible.

Last week as you may recall, Gordon and I went on a day date and got a boat to paddle around Central Park and also went to Magnolia Bakery for a few treats. WELL, I made a pretty good version of their Pumpkin Gingersnap Banana Pudding that is to die for. My only regret is not buying a trifle bowl. Buuut, I can definitely add it to my Christmas list!

I think Thursday was my one sick day where I really felt awful, but after a good night sleep and a whole lot** of Tylenol Cold, I was feeling GREAT! Slightly loopy but great! I really have to be feeling awful to want to take medicine. I try to combat illness with anything but medication because I think it’s better for my body, so when I do actually take prescribed doses of anything, it goes down smooth and works wonders. I remember feeling totally high after I had one of my children because they gave me some Tylenol with codeine for the pain.

**a totally normal, prescribed amount.

So, in the above photo, I am wearing one of my t-shirts that I sell on my blog. I haven’t really disclosed that I sell them because I couldn’t figure out the html involved in organizing the logistics with the shirt printer and shipping service. But this week I sat down and was determined to make it work! After countless ‘how-to’ videos and message boards, I got it figured out! So, you can get your Piorities shirt here. They’re soft, high quality, and I’ve owned this for about a year and it hasn’t faded. Perfect for Thanksgiving, methinks. (Yes, I’ve been sitting on this for a year and only figured it out now.)

Eddie had a preschool halloween party on Friday morning and I made these spider cookies…except I made them mini! They were so cute and everyone loved them! A super easy recipe, since it’s basically all store bought everything, including the cookie dough. This cake mix cookie recipe would also work for spiders!

Friday night, I helped decorate for our church’s Halloween party which happened Saturday morning. We all got to go and had a great time! The kids got to trick or treat at some doors inside the church building and after Eddie realized he was getting candy, he was ready to skip the last few and just go eat it all. Brooke went with her friends and got a ton, but Blake, Eddie and I just ate the 4 pieces we call collected. Ha!

Here’s what is coming up this next week:

Halloween! Still figuring out where to go with my kids. We are the only family in the building, so maybe we’ll go to a different building? Still working it out. I hear 68th street is where its at. We’ll see!

I am going to be attending a blogger retreat that I put together with my friend Sabrina. It was a lot of work for not a lot of people, but I think it’ll be worth it. A labor of love!

And finally, we will be getting together with some friends for a dinner group on Sunday evening! It’s like a potluck meal and I’m debating what I should bring. Actually, I think I’ll just get that trifle bowl early and make more banana pudding! YUM YUM.

Facetiming my parents. Aren’t they the cutest?

I like the t-shirt but can’t seem to find what it’s made of. Is it all cotton, a cotton blend, or something else? Thank You.

Aw your parents are so cute!

As far as Eddie and the preschool drop off issue, maybe he’s a tad too young still? He isn’t even 3 yet, correct? That is pretty young for preschool. Around here they don’t go until about 3-1/2. Or maybe it’s just not a good fit for him and he is uncomfortable there? It’s hard when they are still too young to tell you what’s going on. 🙁
