I really like taking a few minutes at the beginning of the week to recap what has happened and all that has yet to happen. It helps my brain function a little better. Sanity is always the name of the game. Hope you like these updates as much as I do!!
Here’s what went down this week
I started off the week feeling a little better for a day and then getting sick with a second cold on my way to Indulge Conference. Incase you are unaware, I not only run this blog, but I plan a conference for a bunch of other bloggers called Indulge every year. This year we went to Austin!
The MVP award goes to my sister-in-law who drove from Oregon to watch my three kids so I could attend. She rules.
ANYWAYS, besides me feeling completely awful and having to drug myself a ton, it was a great event! Very busy for me, but great!
I got home from Austin at 12:30am on Wednesday morning. After about 10 minutes of being home, Blake woke up with what sounded like croup. So, the remaining parts of the week have been REAL fun. I’ve been staying home as much as possible, trying to get me and my little minions well. I think I got the brunt of the sickness (thankfully?) but man it’s really been kicking my butt.
I’m ready for a day where I don’t feel like I have to cough every other sentence. Doesn’t that sound nice?
We had a few more showings this week and another open house, but still no offers on our sweet adobe. It’s really a lovely house! We are dropping the price this week though because mama gotta MOVE!
I’m hoping I’ll be able to go to New York City some time in May to find an apartment and sign a lease. Looks like we will be moving in mid-June! At least that’s the plan…if our darn house sells! Ahhh! I can’t think about it too long without hyperventilating a little.
The sooner I sell the house, the sooner I can start selling all our stuff IN the house. SO MUCH TO DO!
Here’s what’s happening this week:
I’m going to sell my house!! (Positive thinking, right?)
Brooke has volleyball practice and her first game with her team this week! She’s so nervous and it’s adorable.
I’m calling schools in NYC to see who has availability in the Fall for a 3rd grader. That will tell us what areas we should look for apartments in. The whole process is foreign to me, but whatever. Hoping for the best! I found a perfect apartment under budget in a great location, but it’s already rented. Of course it is! Real estate in the city is crazy. You snooze you lose. So, I’ll be looking seriously come May. But it sure is fun/depressing to see what’s available. 900 square foot shoebox in the sky….here we come!!
I also researched triple bunk beds and picked the bunk bed set I would purchase. Ya know…just incase we can’t find a three bedroom apartment.
All you city-dwellers, give me your best tips! Heaven knows I need all the help I can get.
Have a great week!
Success Academy seems to be hiring… there are various locations throughout the city.
Additionally, check out Waterside Plaza for apartments. $5400 for 3 bedroom. Good luck!
Hi Lauren! Found your blog via search for tuna/egg salad sandwich. I live in Brooklyn and if you are looking at public schools, you mostly figure out the neighborhood you want to live in/afford plus good school district and voila, there you are. Private school/religious are obviously another matter. Please feel free to email any questions/inquiries I might be able to help you with. Been here over 30 years with a kid upstate in Binghamton University.
That’s a great picture, Blake and Eddie really resemble each other! I felt so bad you were so sick for your Austin trip. Congratulations on your move to NYC and I hope you find a decent size apartment!
Lauren,
As you may or may not know, Catholics have a saint for everything. St. Joseph (yes, Jesus’ stepdad) is the one to go to for selling your house. Here’s a link about it:

Don’t know if I’m entitled to give you permission to use it (but based on years of Catholic school, maybe I ma?). Even if it only gives you a laugh, enjoy
I am superstitious .I belive that sharing certain things before they actually happen is not the right thing to do (for me specifically ) . But to you I send all the good vibes may you arrive to your destination soon 🙂
