Be sure to check out my eCookbook here!!

So, this little dude decided to make his debut…right on his due date! Hot diggity dog!

His timing was impeccable, to say the least.

Without going into too much detail, I started having contractions Sunday evening but they kept coming and going like they had been for the last week and things really weren’t progressing. Then at around 9:30pm they started to pick up and not stop. By 10:30, I had called the doctor and was ready to head to the hospital.

Got to the hospital at 11pm, got admitted by 11:30 because I was dilated to a 4 and then things started getting painful. From 11:30 until 12:30 {when I got my epidural}, my water broke and I went from a 4 to a 7! My contractions were coming fast and furious. I’d like to point out that epidurals are a miracle.

I was pretty comfortable until 3:15 am when I was finally completely dilated and ready to push. My epidural seemed to be wearing off, so I kept clicking that little button to make the drugs work faster! Anyways, I pushed my little heart out through the pain {which PS was really really painful} and delivered our little Blake at 3:53 Monday morning. All 8 pounds and 2 ounces of him.

IMG_0264The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck 4 times and he came out bluish purple, so they pressed a button and a bunch of nurses came rushing in. I never saw him/held him until after I heard him cough, sneeze and then finally cry. It seemed like forever, but it was only about one minute that they were working on him. My poor husband was a little freaked by the whole experience, but was grateful Blake started to breathe almost immediately. I was really glad at that point that I was a little out of it.

After he was breathing on his own, we were both able to hold him and cuddle him. What a sweet boy he is!!

He has a calm demeanor and is a champion eater! We all love his to pieces!

Especially his big sister.

IMG_0287Oh and a fun little side note: turns out the epidural fell out of my back while I was pushing, so I felt every part of his 14 inch head come out of me. OUCH.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need a nap.

Oh my goodness, such a little cutie. Congratulations!!!!

My daughter was stubborn and didn’t want anything but finally gave in for an epidural at about 34 hours and it didn’t work for only a little bit and stopped when she was pushing for a long, long, long time. Our sunny disposition, sweet little grandson was sunny side up and didn’t want to come out just like his momma:) Now you can’t slow him down at 2 1/2:)

    You have a beautiful family!!!

Congratulations!! <3 epidurals are amazing, i'm sorry that you had to feel any part of him. Wish they would have checked you to make sure everything ok when you couldn't feel the medication.

Congratulations. My Son who is now 5 months had his cord wrapped three times as well. The doctors indicated they don’t normally see that. My epidural didn’t work – but my labor happened really really quick and I pushed through the pain…. so I hear you! What an amazing time for your family.

What a beautiful little boy! I can’t believe that your epidural fell out partway through. I can picture you pushing that button, wondering why the heck the pain wasn’t subsiding! I can’t wait to meet your little guy.

He certainly chose a big day to debut. I didn’t know that was your actual due date! You are a brave one. So glad you pushed through with no epidural in the end. And that bottom pic with Brooke is a memory maker. wow.

He is precious!! He has such full lips [jealous, my husband and I both have tiny lips, so our little girl never had a chance :)]. Epidurals sure are a miracle worker!
