Ingredients

  • 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 8 oz cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 cup heavy cream cold
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Place semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring in between until melted. Set aside and let cool a bit.
Hands stirring chocolate chips in a glass bowl with a light blue spatula on a pale surface, crafting the perfect chocolate mousse foundation.
  • In a separate bowl, whip cream cheese until smooth. Add melted chocolate and mix until combined. Set aside.
Melted chocolate is being poured into a glass bowl of creamed butter and sugar, beginning the creation of a silky chocolate mousse. A blue spatula is partially visible, ready to fold the mixture into perfection.
  • In a chilled bowl, add in heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract.
Milk being poured into a clear glass bowl on a marble surface, setting the perfect base for a luscious chocolate mousse.
  • Sift in cocoa powder and whip until stiff peaks form. You can use a stand mixer, hand mixer or whisk by hand.
An electric mixer whirls the cocoa powder into a creamy chocolate mousse in a glass bowl on the white countertop.
  • Gently fold the chocolate whipped cream mixture into the chocolate cream cheese mixture a few spoonfuls at a time, until no streaks remain.
A spoonful of rich chocolate mousse is delicately lifted from a glass bowl, resting on a light surface with a spatula nearby.
  • Place in individual serving dishes (or one large serving dish).
Two glass jars brimming with rich, creamy chocolate mousse sit invitingly on a striped cloth. A black spoon gracefully scoops the decadent mousse from one jar, promising a moment of pure indulgence.
  • Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 1/2 hours.
  • Serve cold with whipped cream and berries, if desired.
A spoonful of rich chocolate mousse with whipped cream, topped with a blueberry and a raspberry, sits temptingly. In the background, a glass jar brims with more decadent mousse and fresh fruit.
