gluten free cheddar bay biscuits

I can’t stop watching Jimmy Fallon video clips on youtube. He’s seriously so funny.

I’ve decided that if I ever go to New York City again, I’d take my husband and we would go to that show every.single.day. Umm, correction: WHEN I go to New York City again.

I love that city. I’ve only ever been there once and that was for about 20 hours. Literally. I was there to film Good Morning America and then sent right back home. I actually was able to cram a bunch of stuff into my visit: I met Sting, hung around Times Square, saw the Empire State Building from afar and got Magnolia Bakery Cupcakes. It was pretty fun, but I’m dying to go back fo’sho’. Maybe for my next birthday 🙂

ANYWAYS, since I am a master at talking about everything but the recipes I post, here are some amazing biscuits and they just so happen to be gluten-free! SCORE.

biscuit mix
garlic and herb butter
biscuit mix, garlic and herb butter and cheddar cheese
biscuit mix, garlic and herb butter and cheddar cheese
cheddar bay biscuit mix
divided biscuit dough on baking sheet
garlic and herb butter
melted garlic and herb butter
brushing melted butter on biscuits

Here’s how to make them:Start by stirring all the dry ingredients together: gluten free flour blend, sugar, salt, baking powder and garlic powder. Now grab some cold Roasted Garlic & Herb butter, reserve 1 tablespoon of it and then chop up the rest. Now cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter along with a bunch of grated cheddar cheese. You really just want small chunks of butter through the entire mix and to separate the grated cheese.Stir in the milk until everything is moist…
then drop by the heaping spoonful onto a baking sheet. Pop these into a 400 degree oven and get ready to live.Remember that reserved tablespoon of butter?YEAH. Melt that down. That way, you can brush the tops of the hot biscuits with it and enjoy the bliss!

Haaay!

You could “finish” your biscuit with more butter 😉 I’m so witty. Hello, lovers. These are so amazing warm and don’t even taste gluten free! Look how perfect they look! Mmm….good!

If you’re gluten-free, give these a whirl! And if you’re not, just sub out the gf flour blend for regular all purpose and you’ll be good to go:) Enjoy, friends!

Wow! Never thought I would enjoy a biscuit again since being diagnosed with celiac. Wonderful texture and even reheated well. I also made it with plain butter and no cheese for a standard biscuit taste. Worked very well as a topping for a pot pie too. Delicious!!

Than you for such a simple recipe. I use King Arthur GF flour, fresh garlic, coconut cream, coconut sugar, vegan cheddar, and vegan butter.
My hubby loves his with a little bit of old bay seasoning sprinkled in his.

I would love to try your finishing butters. I cant make up my mind which i would try first. They all sound really good.

  5. Vicki

We don’t have the Private Selections Roasted Garlic & Herb Finishing Butter in Canada. We have garlic butter sticks. Can I subsitute that in for it or something else, maybe?

  6. Jen

I don’t live in an area with a Kroger’s. Do you have any idea what kind/amount of herbs/spices to add if I use regular butter?

  7. Vickie

Although they all sound wonderful..hands down for me would be roasted garlic and herb finishing butter…I cook with lots and garlic, onion and herbs..and put these ingredients in almost everything I cook..what a time saver this would be..cost effective as well..thanks

  8. Richard

I am NOT a butter fan. I don’t like to know I’m eating it if I am, so I think garlic and herb is my choice—so hopefully the flavors blend in with what I am eating and flavor my food well.

  9. Amber G.

I would try the Roasted Garlic and Herbs Butter first! I would trow it on top of a piece of wild salmon and roast it in the oven.
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

Today I USED the honey butter. Lauren, your description lured me right over to my local Ralph’s (just 4 blocks west of us) and bought honey butter because I was drooling for biscuits. I almost always make homemade biscuits, but yesterday I through caution to the wind and bought a tube of Grands biscuits while at Ralph’s. They were delicious. I ate all of them. That finishing butter is the bomb. So very delicious! You do really good work Lauren!

  11. Jamie S.

Such an easy choice! I would totally try the Roasted Garlic & Herb first! The rest sound fantastic, but as someone who always cooks with garlic, there’s no doubt in my mind that I would immediately try to make something with it. (For example, the day I brought home garlic and herb goat cheese, I used half of the container on two separate dishes for dinner… NOM!)

    1. Jamie S.

And of course, these biscuits would be something I would definitely make! I looooooove cheddar bay biscuits, but my husband doesn’t enjoy Red Lobster prices, so they’re an extremely rare treat. 🙁

  12. aimee @ like mother like daughter

oh my gosh, how do I pick? I really want to try the cinnamon and brown sugar and the garlic and herb and really all of them! MMmm!

  14. Becky

Caramel Sea Salt Butter?! I think I might be able to get my husband to sit and listen to me talk about that super cute purse I saw at the mall if I made him something with this! 😀

  15. Heather

They all sound wonderful but I think I’d like to try the Caramel Sea Salt Butter first! Thanks for the awesome recipe and giveaway! I love my Kroger store!

  16. lynne woodworth

I would love to try the Roasted Garlic & Herb first so I can make that delicious sounding gluten-free cheddar bay biscuits recipe.

  17. Shannon

Whoa! These biscuits look amazing. I’m totally forwarding this on to my gluten free friends.

I would usually pick the brown sugar cinnamon butter, but the caramel sea salt butter definitely caught my eye.

Your trip to NYC sounds just like mine last year. I won a ping pong tourney at work and won a trip to play at the Stock Exchange. I went with my doubles partner and it was a first time for both of us. We only had a little over 36 hours there, so we crammed a ton of stuff in like cupcakes at Magnolia, Central Park, Times Square, Top of The Rock, Chelsea Market, Donut Plant……so needless to no sleep was had. I would LOVE to go back!

  18. Lorita Isotalo

I would love to try the Roasted Garlic and Herb Finishing Butter. Have not seen these in the store yet, but will be looking for them now. They all sound so good!!

  23. Cathy Hodge Smith

Chomp, chomp, yum, yum! Garlic herb butter will be my first purchase because I am very into savory flavors and I love me garlic bread! Lauren, have I told you lately that I love you? I do. And I love Ralph’s (my local Kroeger market) for coming out with wonderfully flavored butters. Life is gonna be grand in 2014!

  24. Lorena

  32. Trisha

Roasted Garlic and Herbs butter. I’ve been trying different things with pizza dough (including your fail-proof recipe!) and I’m thinking you could brush some of this on the crust after adding sauce and toppings. Maybe it will help crisp it up a little more and add a little extra kick of flavor? Yummy!

  33. katie martin

All of them sound good but would really like to try Cinnamon Brown Sugar Butter. Sounds so yummy on toast for breakfast. Thanks for sharing will have to look for them next time I am at the store.

  34. Emily @ Life on Food

I actually just bought the roasted garlic and herbs one the other day (I will have to try it in your biscuits!), and the cinnamon sugar and honey ones looked great, too – gotta love that sugar.

  37. Deb E

I was going to say garlic before I saw the list and she has more than one garlic flavor! I would love to try the Roasted Garlic and Herb Finishing Butter. I love garlic in everything! Thanks for the giveaway.

  38. Melinda Lipsey

A shmear of the Private Selection Caramel Sea Salt finishing butter on my warm, homemade, gluten free cinnamon rolls would be amazing!

  39. Julie

I have been making Cheddar Bay Biscuits for years but love your variation with the Roasted Garlic and Herbs Butter….so would try that first. Next would love using the
Herbs and Lemon Pepper Butter on chicken or fish. They all sound wonderful!

  40. Melissa Denison

Hmm, I think the most useful one of the butters for me would be most likely either the lemon garlic butter or the herbs and lemon pepper butter. I made this amazing red wine vinegar butter as a finishing butter for fish and it was absolutely amazing. Lemon goes hand in hand with fish so it’d be perfect.

  41. Melissa

I want to try the herb & lemon pepper butter!

And by the way, thanks for posting these GF biscuits…i just found out I’m gluten-intolerant and it’s great to have some new recipes and ideas!

  42. jesssicamc

I would love to try the honey butter on some toasted cinnamon swirl bread, that sounds so good! Actually, they all sound pretty good!

  43. Rebecca D

I would have to say the sea salt and caramel because it sounds so yummy!
I am really excited to try this recipe because we are looking into gluten free for my youngest son.

  44. Katie

The cinnamon brown sugar flavor sounds SO good! (actually, they all sound good). I think my husband would love this flavor on some warm toast in the morning.

  45. Kasie

OMGoodness! The Caramel Sea Salt one sounds AMAZING! But honestly, I’ll probably try the Roasted Garlic and Herb first because I want to try the biscuit recipe you shared. Thank you! 🙂

  46. Amber

Definitely the Roasted Garlic and Herb because I need to make these babies! SO delicious looking, and I was just craving these recently too 🙂 Thanks Lauren!

  47. Diane Siniscalchi

Definitely the Caramel Sea Salt Butter! A very close second would be the Roasted Garlic and Herb, because I’d like to try the Gluten-Free Cheddar Biscuits.

Cinnamon Brown Sugar sounds like the bomb for toast or popcorn. Quite frankly, they all sound delish and I can think of something to make with them all. But I LOVE cinnamon toast so going there first!!
