Benefits of these Detox Water Recipes

No one can deny that drinking more water is great for your body. Practically every part of you needs that water. Your skin, your hair, your internal organs, all of it.

However, what sets detox water apart from just drinking regular water is that it mixes that beautiful H2O with all the natural vitamins, minerals and antioxidants found in fruit. Plus it tastes great!

To name a few healthy benefits:

  • Lemon – This contains a ton of Vitamin C which boosts your immune system.
  • Mint – Its sharp and fresh flavor isn’t just for taste, mint also helps relieves upset stomachs.
  • Lavender – This has been widely accepted to be a natural stress reliever!
  • Berries – Any sort of berry is full of vitamins and dietary fibers. Fiber helps you maintain a healthy weight, lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer. Wowza!

How to Make Detox Water

There aren’t really ‘recipes’ to go with any of these. You just basically need water, ice and the ingredients listed below.

Use a spoon or something to muddle the fruity/herby ingredients together before adding the water and you’re good to go. The more you muddle and the longer you let the ingredients ‘hang out’ with each other, the stronger the water will be flavored. If you want a light hint of flavors, don’t go all buck wild with the muddling. Take it easy, dawgs.

I hope your cough gets better. These waters look delish! I laughed at your daughter’s comment. I tell my kids to quit coughing all the time (or my fiancé… or my brothers). Coughing annoys me. Sometimes when I cough a lot, I find the urge to say out loud that I’m annoying myself.

Hope by now you’re felling better! I try to drink a lot of water, but it really does get boring. These are fantastic ideas! Pinning to keep handy!

I’ve been dealing with coughing since I caught a cold back in November. Not the full-fledged cold coughing, but more like irritated throat coughing. I recently discovered I don’t like plain water anymore. So I’ve gone the lemon route. Not bad, but boring after the first week. Plain cucumber is yummy, and I’m sure it’ll be nice and refreshing in the heat of summer. My next concoction is going to be cucumber, lemon, and mint.

Been there…and it is NO FUN!!!!!! Constant coughing. Feel better, and keep hydrated…it helps….some…I recently kept a cough drop in my mouth almost 24/7….I know…horrible!!!! One right after the other, with choking in between…choking coughing. Only good thing…built in exercise.

LOVING these combos! I’m a natural water drinker already and usually too much of a lazy bones to add fancy things but you’re inspiring me to turn over a new leaf and muddle some delish into my agua! Hope you feel better asap =)

Oh no!! Feel better!! (And, BTW, my daughter said the same thing to me last week: “you know mom, that cough is really annoying.” The look i gave her…)

Love this list, I was just saying today to my husband that water is so…boring! I can’t wait to try them!

  14. Mirlandra @ Mirlandra's Kitchen

What fun combos! I need a little freshening up in the water department. These sound really good! I don’t even know what to try first. I have been working on my water drinking skills and I know this will help. Thank you so much!

P.S. Hope your lungs are still intact. Get well!

  15. Connie Lee

I saw a remedy online for coughing. I’ve never tried it but it sounds like you may be ready to try anything. The juice from a fresh pineapple is suppose to contain one of the same main ingredients as cough syrup but more of it. Let me know if it works if you happen to try it, I might need it one day also.

  16. Lynn Benner

Give me a glass with muddled raspberry & orange any way I can get it! I’ve even resorted to “smoothly like consistency” using fruit, ice, water & a magic bullet (still going strong after 19 years!)

That cough can be a “hanger on”. I’ve been mixing a tablespoon of honey with a teaspoon of cinnamon & sucking that spoon 1x a day. I think it’s cut the severity/length of my cough down by 2/3! I’m almost done now.

  17. Karen @ On the Banks of Salt Creek

I’m going to pick one of these and make a pitcher full. Maybe I can get my guys to drink more water too.

Aww – I hope you stop coughing soon and feel much better!
These waters are just beautiful and look sooo healthy!
I’m pretty good about my water drinking, but admit sometimes I have to try hard not to count coffee as water – (it does have some in there after all)! xoxo

  20. Jessica @ Golden Brown and Delicious

I don’t remember the last time I drank flavored water (I’m guilty of the “in a glass with ice” way of living), but some of these sound incredible. Strawberry +lemon and anything with watermelon definitely piques my interest.

Feel better girl, and keep drinking that water!

  21. Taylor @ Food Faith Fitness

My husband gets really proud of himself when he drinks ONE glass of water a day. He lives off coffee and pop.
Maybe this will be my secret ninja way to get some more healthy goodness into his body. Love these flavours! Pinned!
