Well, I finally feel like we are starting to get some decent summer weather, so here’s a great burger recipe! Or should I say Cheeseburger recipe. I love a juicy burger. When I was pregnant, I only had a “gotta have it now or someone is going to die” craving twice. And one of those times, it was for a burger. {God bless Wendy’s!}
I just love burgers.
Actually, in college, there was this tiny town an hour away with a sports bar in it that had AMAZING burgers and onion rings. I only ever went there three times because it was so good, but oh so bad. But delicious. And gut busting. {*If ever you are driving through Driggs, Idaho, make sure you stop at O’Rourkes!}
I have a burger problem. And an onion ring addiction {Thanks a lot, Sonic!}.
I’m addicted to a lot of things….
Something else that falls under that category: mild green chiles.{Random, right?!} I love their flavor. So, I made these for dinner the other night and I fell in love. {Since my husband is not around, I just have too much extra love to give.}
If I could have changed anything, however, it would be to add more cheese and more green chiles. Go figure.
So, give these a whirl. Make sure you load on the cheese and the sauce. They are well worth it! 🙂 Promise.
Green Chile Cheeseburger
Ingredients
for the patties-
- 1 lb ground beef 80/20
- 1/4 cup grated sweet onion
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- salt
- pepper
for the sauce-
- 1 small can diced green chiles use the mild unless you like the spice
- 1/2 cup green enchilada sauce use a good one- I used Les Palmas brand
- 4 thick slices monterey jack cheese or any other kind you like
- 4 hamburger buns
any other desired hamburger toppings:
- tomatoes
- onions
- lettuce etc.
Instructions
- Preheat outdoor grill to medium high.
- In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together for the burger patties. Divide into 4 even balls and form into patties with a slight depression in the middle for even cooking time. Grill burgers about 5 minutes per side or until done to your liking. Once you flip your patties once, top with a slice of cheese and cover to melt. Toast buns in the last two minutes of cooking, if desired. Remove everything from grill.
- In a small bowl, stir together green chiles and enchilada sauce. Microwave to warm and set aside.
- Build burger by topping cheeseburger with lots of green chile sauce and any other desired toppings.
