Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!
Tis the season to paaa-rty
Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!
I love a catchy tune…until you can’t stop singing it for 48 hours. This little Richard Simmons number was the last thing caught in my head a few months ago. It was as good as it sounds.
You’re welcome.
ANYWAYS.
Are you ready for Christmas and New Years? Yes, I realize this is the first week of December, but I am all about planning! I’ve gotten ALL my Christmas gifts purchased and I’ve even started wrapping them!! Overachiever, I know.
As far as all the upcoming parties go, I have yet to plan one dish or appetizer besides, like, veggies and dip. So, because I know you all are popular joe-shmos and have been invited to any and all Holiday parties and odds are you have little to no time {like me!}, I’ve created a fabulously delicious appetizer that looks pretty fancy, but couldn’t be easier. If you take a trip to your grocery store, all these ingredients can be found in the dairy and freezer sections. We’re taking a little help from the store to make something spectacular that friends and family will love.
Think sweet, spicy, buttery, barbecue-y, crunchy, creamy and fresh. All in one bite! Awwwwwwwwesome.
And if these don’t tickle your fancy, there are lots of other yummy appetizer recipes on the NFRA/Easy Home Meals website here.
Here’s how to make it:
Start with a tray of Athens mini fillo shells. Find them in the freezer section at the grocery store, next to the puff pastry! Open these up and place them on a small baking sheet.
Also, heat up a few of these: boneless chicken wings. They are key for this recipe. Pick out 9 pieces and microwave them enough to be able to chop them up {warm is fine but not necessary}.
Once the chicken is….chop-able, add it to a bowl with some chopped cilantro, grated cheddar cheese, softened Philadelphia cream cheese, BBQ sauce, salt and pepper.
Mix it all up until it looks pretty much uniform in color and the cream cheese is dispersed throughout.
Spoon this mixture into each tart shell and bake 10 minutes in a 400 degree oven.
You basically want the cheese to melt, the top to become lightly brown and the entire tart to become an ooey-gooey mass.
Then {because we’re feeling crazy!} drizzle each tart with honey and add some cilantro to garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy! The BBQ sauce paired with the honey, cilantro and the spicy chicken will make you want to snarf a whole plate of these down.
Relatives and company in general will also find these delightful!
