If you’re looking for a fast, no-fuss way to cook salmon that still tastes like you actually put effort into it… this is the one. The marinade for my Asian Air Fryer Salmon is packed with flavor (think salty, nutty, sweet, gingery magic), and the air fryer does all the heavy lifting. The result? Juicy, flaky salmon with bold Asian-inspired flavor in under 30 minutes.

Ingredient Notes + Variations

This recipe uses a short list of pantry staples to create a light marinade that’s full of flavor. It soaks into the salmon quickly, so you’re not stuck waiting an hour to cook dinner. Just a couple things to take note of-

  • Wild Caught Salmon – Use skin-on fillets so they stay juicy and are easier to handle in the air fryer.
  • Ground ginger – Dried works great here, but you could use fresh grated if that’s what you have on hand.

How to make Air Fryer Asian Salmon

You’ll mix up a quick marinade, coat your salmon, and let the air fryer do its thing. You don’t even need to preheat the oven or deal with a greasy stovetop mess.

For full recipe details, including ingredients needed and measurements, see the printable recipe card down below.

Step 1: Combine Ingredients

To a shallow dish or mixing bowl, add salmon filets. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, honey, garlic powder, and ground ginger.

Step 2: Marinate the Salmon

Gently toss or spoon the marinade over the salmon to coat it evenly. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to marinate.

Pro Tip: You can discard the marinade or boil it and drizzle it over the cooked salmon before serving.

Step 3: Air fry

Preheat the air fryer to 350° F. Transfer the marinated salmon fillets to the air fryer basket, skin-side down. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Tips for Success

  • Want a sauce? Boil the leftover marinade to reduce it, then drizzle it over the cooked salmon.
  • Don’t marinate too long. Salmon absorbs quickly and can get mushy if it sits too long.
  • Use tongs or a spatula to lift the salmon out of the air fryer… it’s tender.
  • Line your basket with parchment or use a nonstick spray if your air fryer tends to stick.
