If you’ve ever wanted a dip that takes almost zero effort yet still gets people hovering around the bowl, this Cream Cheese Onion Dip is your moment. It turns a handful of everyday ingredients into the kind of creamy, savory spread that makes guests ask for the recipe before they even sit down. Plus, it comes together in a blender. No tears from chopping mountains of onions. No babysitting anything on the stove. Just blend, chill, and try not to eat half of it with a spoon.

Ingredient Notes + Variations
This cream cheese onion dip leans into simple ingredients that know how to work together. Everything blends into a silky texture that keeps you coming back with another dipper.
- Sweet onion adds mild flavor with a little natural sweetness.
- Red onion sharpens things just enough so the dip doesn’t feel shy.
- Cream cheese creates that thick, velvety base you want in a good dip.
- Mayonnaise brings richness. Duke’s brand is my favorite for this recipe.
- Sour cream keeps the texture smooth and spoonable.
- Vegetable bouillon base builds the savory backbone and gives the dip its depth.

How to Make Cream Cheese Onion Dip
This dip is unbelievably easy. Everything goes into the blender for a quick whirl, then it chills until the flavors settle in and it thickens. For full recipe details, including ingredients and measurements needed, see the probable recipe card down below.
Step 1: Prep the onions
Chop the sweet onion and red onion into rough chunks.
Step 2: Blend everything
Add onions, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and vegetable bouillon base to a blender and blend until smooth.

Step 3: Chill
Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.

Tips for Success
- Let the dip chill long enough to firm up. It starts out loose right after blending, so the chill time helps it thicken and settle into the right texture.
- Use room temperature cream cheese so it blends easily.
- Taste before serving and add a tiny bit more bouillon base if you want deeper flavor.

What to Serve with Cream Cheese Onion Dip
- Fresh Veggie Tray– because fresh veggies balance the richness.
- Homemade Kettle Chips– perfect for scooping generous amounts.
- Homemade Soft Pretzels– because salty chewy pretzels are magic with creamy dips.
- Baked Potatoes– since thick potato wedges love a good savory dip.
