Valentine’s Day Brownies|A Quick and Easy Valentine’s Day Treat
Valentine’s Day is almost upon us which means BROWNIES! At least, that’s what it means at my house 🙂
My daughter really likes to make homemade treats for her classmates, especially around Valentine’s Day for some reason so I oblige. It really doesn’t take much to convince me to make a dessert. One year, we made these XO Sugar Cookies which were a huge hit with the Kindergarteners.
These make a great snack for a classroom of kids or fun parties or even to give to all the Valentine’s you have! Just keep in mind they make a huge half sheet pan full of deep dish brownies! It’s a really sweet and decadent dessert to have, but shouldn’t all Valentine’s Day desserts be this way? I think yes.
Main Ingredients Needed
These brownies come together really quick. Especially when using a ready to bake brownie package. Here’s what you need:
- Brownies – I used Kroger Ready to Bake Brownie Mix, found in the refrigerator section. You can also use a boxed brownie mix, or try one of my brownie recipes, like this one The Best Homemade Brownie Recipe.
For the Frosting
- Butter – feel free to use salted or unsalted butter.
- Cocoa Powder + Vanilla – for flavor!
- Powdered Sugar – to sweeten and thicken.
- Milk – to moisten and get that perfect frosting consistency.
- Valentine Sprinkles – to decorate and make festive!
- Heart-Shaped Peeps + Gummy Candies– if you can’t find exactly what I used, use whatever you can find and like! There are so many different kinds of Valentine’s Day candies these days that you could make 1000 variations on this recipe.
How to Make Valentine’s Day Brownies| Directions
For full details on how to make Valentine’s Day Brownies, see the printable recipe card below.
Step 1: Preheat Oven and Line Baking Sheet
Preheat the oven. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
Step 2: Bake Brownies
Open the packages of ready to bake brownies and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Press into the pan and even out to create a mostly flat sheet of brownie. Bake and then allow to cool.
Step 3: Make Frosting
While the brownies are cooling, make the frosting. Whip butter and cocoa together until smooth in large bowl. Be sure to use room temperature butter to get a really smooth frosting.
Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar. Slowly stream in milk until frosting reaches desired consistency. I promise my method is fail-proof! Just take it easy on the milk so it doesn’t get too runny.
Step 4: Spread Frosting and Add Sprinkles
Spread the whole bowl of frosting onto the cooled brownies and cut into 24 even squares. Don’t be alarmed! They will be large. Top with sprinkles and candies. Serve.
How Do I Store My Brownies?
Cover with plastic wrap and store for up to 3 days on the counter.
