Valentines Day Brownies

Pin It IconValentine’s Day is almost upon us which means BROWNIES! At least, that’s what it means at my house 🙂

My daughter really likes to make homemade treats for her classmates, especially around Valentine’s Day for some reason so I oblige. It really doesn’t take much to convince me to make a dessert. One year, we made these XO Sugar Cookies which were a huge hit with the Kindergarteners.

Anyways, these make a great snack for a classroom of kids or fun parties or even to give to all the Valentine’s you have! Just keep in mind they make a huge half sheet pan full of deep dish brownies! It’s a really sweet and decadent dessert to have, but shouldn’t all Valentine’s Day desserts be this way? I think yes.

Here’s how to make them:

Kroger Chocolate Brownie Dough

Start by picking up four of these ready to bake brownies from Kroger. I take short cuts from the store whenever I can! Plus, these brownies are the bomb.

Brownie dough

Open up each package and place into a prepared baking sheet.

Brownie dough

Like this! I lined a half sheet pan with parchment paper and sprayed it lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Trying to make my life easy, ya’ll. Dishes are my nemesis…but not when I line everything with parchment paper!

Press the brownie batter out and make it as even as you can while using your fingers. Throw this into a 325 degree oven and bake until its not quite finished cooking.

Baked brownies

Once you pull the brownies out of the oven, you’ll let them cool completely and in this cooling process, the brownies will finish cooking perfectly!

Unsalted butter

So, now we can make the frosting. I didn’t take a bunch of step by step pictures because the tutorial is right here. But in a nut shell, you whip butter {from Kroger} together with cocoa powder, vanilla, powdered sugar and milk. The more you whip it the lighter and airy it gets.

Chocolate frosting

Be sure to use room temperature butter to get a really smooth frosting. I promise my method is fail proof! Just take it easy on the milk so it doesn’t get too runny.

Brownies with chocolate frosting

Spread the whole bowl of frosting onto the cooled brownies and cut into 24 even squares. Don’t be alarmed! They will be large.

Valentines Day Sprinkles

Sprinkle with some festive sprinkles and top with heart shaped marshmallows or candies.

You can personalize these however you like with whatever candies you’d like. My daughter preferred these big marshmallows, so that’s what we did. There are so many different kinds of Valentine’s Day candies these days that you could make 1000 variations on this recipe.

Be sure to print the recipe below and give these a try. They will blow your minds, and everyone I fed them to had nothing but good things to say….though that group was a bunch of 7 year olds. 🙂

Have a great day!!
