Is anything better than butter? BROWNED BUTTER!

If you’ve never ever made this, and then mixed it into some frosting–you need to stop what you’re doing and go make this right now. I made this cake a few weeks ago for Better Homes and Gardens blog and just DIED over the results. I love the nutty almost maple flavor that the browned butter gives in the frosting. It’s seriously so tasty! Especially with a little dash of cinnamon on top of super moist cake! Mmm….

If you’re wanting to brown butter, then all you do is throw some into a small saucepan, place it over medium low heat and watch it like a hawk. Once things start looking all golden, then you’re done! Super simple to do and you’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes in all sorts of recipes.

      I love making bread and butter ALWAYS makes bread taste better!!! So I would make a good buttermilk bread and use butter

    My favorite use for browned butter is adding it to frosting. But added to a crumb topping for a casserole is wonderful.

    I made a browned butter pumpkin cake last fall, but I think the
    pumpkin hid the butter flavor. I’d love to do the banana cake with browned butter icing, although I’m intrigued by the idea of chocolate chip cookies made that way……

    I am literally…as in RIGHT now…on my way home from Afghanistan and have been deprived of fresh vegetables for MONTHS. I found this AWESOME recipe for brown butter garden vegetable pasta skillet that I have been dreaming about–even if “garden vegetables” aren’t necessarily in season, I’m sure they will be far more fresh than whatever mass-thawed frozen vegetable selection I have been eating!

    I’ve never made browned butter, but you describe it deliciously and now I must try. I think this cake sounds like a great way to sample the flavor of the browned butter, or maybe it would be nice drizzled over a zuchini bundt cake
