This Taco Salad recipe laced with Doritos will have you losing your mind! It’s a great way to get your kids to eat their vegetables!!!
Taco Salad | With Doritos
But seriously, Doritos on a Taco Salad? If you haven’t tried it, you must. It’s one of my favorite things to eat ever. See here and here for proof. What can I say? I have a thing for neon orange chips and I don’t care who knows it. So, this weekend if you’re feeling up to the task, throw a couple of Doritos into your taco salad. You will surely thank me.
Wait, Doritos!?
YES DORITOS! This is a heavenly addition to this taco salad. Feel free to replace Doritos with Fritos, corn chips, tortilla chips, or even a different flavor of Doritos!
How to Make Taco Salad
Like any salad recipe, this taco salad is easy to throw together. Just prepare your veggies, your meat, dressing if you want some, and assemble. Then dig in!
- Pile the entire container of lettuce onto a serving platter. Line ingredients for salad overtop lettuce in any order you’d like. According to this picture, I did corn, avocado, meat, tomatoes, cheese, olives, and then topped the whole thing with chopped cilantro.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Tuck Doritos chips around the edges of the platter and serve!
Possible Dressings
Now I don’t provide a dressing for this taco salad because I personally don’t think it needs one. BUT if you would like a dressing of sorts, here are some ideas:
- Try my Basic Salsa Recipe as a dressing!
- Sour Cream is always a great option but consider sprucing it up by making this fish taco sauce (sour cream, lime, seasonings etc.)
- One of my readers suggested a thousand island dressing mixed with a little bit of hot sauce! Spiciness mixed with all that freshness.
- I also have this Caesar Avocado Dressing that you can try.
Customize this Taco Salad Recipe
The beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it any way you like. If you hate cilantro, leave it out. If you rather go with corn chips than Doritos, go for it. Here are a couple of customizable suggestions:
- Veggies: grill corn, add red onions, use a different type of tomato, or just use what you have at home!
- Cheese: use Monterey Jack, Queso Blanco, or another type of cheese that you love.
- Taco Meat: I have a plethora of homemade taco meat that you can use: Turkey Taco Meat Recipe, Crockpot Chicken Taco Meat Recipe, Slow Cooked Carnitas (Mexican Pork) and Uruguayan Asado.

Tried this recipe some time back. it turned out delicious. Thanks for sharing
This does not look like four servings for my family! Your family must eat smaller than my family! ????
That might be the case!
Love
If you think it needs dressing a little bottled thousand island dressing mixed with Tabasco would be perfect.

This is one salad I could really enjoy! And to some of the others who commented needing salad dressing, I don’t think it would really need it but if you do I would use my favorite salsa or taco sauce. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

NEED TO TRY IT. IT LOOKS YUMMY!!! THANS
I was wondering about a dressing as well. It looks great, but I do think it needs at least a little dressing on the lettuce.
Looks yummy but definitely needs sour cream added across the top.
Wonderful recipe. Thanks a lot for sharing this. I will certainly try it and post the feedback here.

Doritos on a Taco Salad are the bomb. End of story. Love this twist on a cobb salad!
doritos are the best on a taco salad! 🙂 i’m doing your diet bet challenge too! i’ve also been doing really well giving up the processed sugars and refined grains, but exercise is a challenge as we’re on the tail end of a pretty major renovation project and my house is a disaster area with no room to do my workout videos. we’ve had warmer weather this week, and hopefully it will stay that way 🙂
