I’ve got something fun and a little different for you today! Remember this post all about Gourdoughs? You know, that crazy doughnut place in Austin? Well a few bloggers and I decided to get together and recreate some of the doughnuts from their menu! Welcome to this blog hop 🙂
I picked The Puddin’ doughnut to make: basically, a banana pudding shoved into and on top of a doughnut.
Yes, this is as crazy good as you think it is. AND!! My husband who is a chocolate fanatic tried one and just about died! He loved it {which never ever happens unless it’s chocolate based} and even said “it’s probably one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had”—->WINNER WINNER DOUGHNUT DINNER!
Except eat this for dinner. And then have these.
So, basically, I just made a basic doughnut dough from The Pioneer Woman, filled it with vanilla pudding {just made instant pudding from the box :)} topped it with lots of cream cheese frosting, bananas and then Nilla wafers! It was one heavy doughnut, but oh boy was it tasty!

The Puddin Donut from Gourdough’s
Ingredients
- 1 recipe Ree's doughnuts minus the glaze
- 1 recipe my cream cheese frosting from this recipe
- 1 small box instant vanilla pudding
- 1 1/2 cups cold milk
- 3 bananas cut into thick slices
- nilla wafers for garnish
Instructions
- Make Ree’s doughnuts according to her recipe without cutting holes in the centers and minus the glaze.
- Once those are made or while they are rising, make the cream cheese frosting and store in the fridge until ready to assemble the doughnuts.
- Whisk vanilla pudding into the cold milk until smooth. Wait 5 minutes until it thickens and store in fridge until ready to assemble.
- Right before assembly, slice bananas.
- For assembly: spoon pudding into a pastry bag with a filling tip. Poke a hole into the sides of each doughnut and pipe about 2 tablespoons of pudding into the centers.
- Spread a generous amount of cream cheese frosting overtop doughnuts. Top with sliced bananas, crushed Nilla wafers, more cream cheese frosting and more Nilla wafers. Repeat with each doughnut until they are all filled and topped. Serve immediately.
