Ingredient Notes + Variations

Simple ingredients, big payoff. This recipe leans on classic pizza flavors layered into soft rolls, then baked until melty and golden.

  • Sweet Hawaiian rolls – Soft, slightly sweet, and perfect for sliders. Keep them attached so everything bakes evenly.
  • Mozzarella cheese – Melts smoothly and gives that stretchy pizza pull. Provolone works too.
  • Pepperoni – Adds that familiar pizza flavor. Turkey pepperoni works if you prefer.
  • Ground Italian sausage – Cooked first, then mixed with sauce for a rich, hearty layer.
  • Pizza sauce – Use your favorite jarred sauce or homemade.
  • Butter – Brushed on top for color and flavor.
  • Italian seasoning + garlic powder – Sprinkled on top for that bakery-style finish.
